Terry, you running an online continuing education course on this subject? :p I often struggle and need help. :(

:lol2:

See Joe, on second thought, make whatever statement you want and simply stick Terry's signature emoticon on the tag end of it and everything's kosher.

Come to think of it. Don't sign me up for the class. This :lol2: should be enough. :p

:lol2: nuff said! copyright that!

Edit: T-Bone don't bend over for no one - copyright That! :D

Thanks to Sang, "T-Boning" is now an official verb in the English language. Emma will be tested on this when she takes SAT's :D

BTW, thanks for the kind words, but I only hope that my tank will look 1/2 as good as yours someday :)

Your tank thread was one I was reading when I was deciding between a 150 and a 180. I also felt that I might be able to add a decent thread to the LTF.

I too use a ranco for my chiller, but I have a ACJR for my lights, fans, and fuge light and heaters.

Tony - I just picked up a used single stage one here on the classifieds. They come up from time to time. I recently saw a Ranco dual stage for $75 shipped. useful if you're gonna run a chiller and heater.

The one in your link looks like the one I bought. I'm not sure of the model number though.

The main reason I didn't buy an all-in-one controller was cost. I initially was not running a Ca reactor and did not use a controller for my heater. I just use basic timers for my lights.

In hindsight, with the money I've spent on separte controllers, I've actually spent more money and have more stuff under my stand now!

which model do you use mark?

I just use the single as it only controls my chiller. If I did not have an ACJR to control my 2 heaters, I would of got a dual.

gotcha... i've been running a lighthouse controller which has ph, orp, temp, etc. all wi-fi accessible (has a little http server in it). what bums me out is that the one bug in the thing caused *everything* to go haywire when i moved recently. the first 2 days i was away from the tank... the lights didn't go on, etc. i'm sure the other bigger brands are more reliable... but it made me wonder whether having some redundancy didn't make sense.

so was it crazy expensive to stay with the bionic on that large a tank? is that the reason you went with the ca rx? i'm thinking i'll stay 2-part with my litermeter 3 until i can't stand it anymore and switch over. i found a TOTM from a while back (800+g) that ran on the balling method and have to say that i'd rather not have to learn more equipment if i can help it.

This has now officially turned into a love fest.

I used a reactor on my last tank. One of my goals in setting up this tank was "keeping things simple" - mainteance and equipment. This was why I went B-Ionic.

I dosed it by hand every morning before work. I was pretty good at remembering, too! I didn't want to buy and dosing pumps for it, as that didn't fit my goals.

But, my wife and I like to vacation often, and i started wondering who would dose this while I was gone. My best friend lives 5 minutes away from me, and he always babysits my fish, but he's not a reefer. He can feed the fish, but I didn't want to worry about him dosing the 2-part...thus, back to a calcium reactor.

I can say this piece of equipment sure makes life easy. It really is a set and forget piece of equipment.

It's a Charger SRT8.

Actually it's my brother's? I'm not into cars, never have been for some reason. He's got a lot of carbon fiber on that car and has done some stuff that I can't begin to remember. I know he's also got a carbon fiber hood, trunk and the company he gets his stuff from is making a roof piece. Here are some new 22s that he just got. I think this makes three sets, including the stock SRT8 20s.

Terry, do mean the carbon fiber stuff?

My brother gets the carbon fiber stuff and some of the other accessories through a couple sponsors, IIRC.

The rims he's going to start selling on the side soon. I believe he's working with some company that makes knock-offs. From what I understand, copying rim designs runs rampant as there are very few patents on them. So if you see something you like, they should be able to make them for a pretty decent price.
