After reading and watching other large tank builds i finally get to build one myself. Little backround i had a 120g sps that crashed 2 years ago. After that almost quit the hobby. Decided to just set up 65g and build a custom stand canopy ran for year and a half decided to get back into sps. Started running out of room to hide all the equipment so started talking to the wife about setting up a larger tank. I met a local reefer who was selling his tank and decided to go with this one. I will be picking up the tank next week in the meantime i have been breaking down current tank and setting up the sump/plumbing.

well I'll definantly be tuning in to this one. looks great so far. The tanks is drained and ready to go. I'll see you on saturday.

thought i would update this. Picked up the tank this weekend. Been working on plumbing it up and cleaning it. Tank didnt fit into the room as i would have liked so had to kinda sit it in the corner. Its still viewable from three sides it just kinda a tight fit as its only 14 inchs off the wall on one side. The tank dimensions are 44LX52WX21T. Anybody have any ideas on how to clean the bottem of the tank that is covered in corline algae? The bottem of the tank is a plastic so i can not use a razor blade just to scrape it off. Its still pretty dirty in the pics below. Maybe you guys can give me a idea of how to get it clean.

Me inside the tank can better give you the size of it.

Two other misc shots to give you the unique look the tank has with its angled corners.

Little update been stuck working 12 hours at work went a little slow this week. Tank is filled and hooked up to the rest of the system. Threw in a bunch of rock from previous systems and played around with how i might want to aquascape this thing. This is how it looks now kinda a L shape with a swimming channel with a island up front. I still have another 100 or so pounds to play around with in my sump. The pics that follow are what i threw together in about 20 min lighting is temp setup only 1 250 hqi over it for right now so pics are kinda dark

Pics are kinda bad just snaped a few. Ill get some better ones up in the next few days.

Let me now what you guys think.

not so sure exactly how to light it yet thats going to be the project for next week. Going to try to get away with 2 250hqi in the canopy. If that dose not work i think im going to get some metal pipe and bend it over the tank to hold 3 hqi if this setup works i will evently build a canopy to hold them dont just want to go putting a bunch of holes in the ceiling trying to get it to look right.

U know I have a 140 cube that I was going to hang a 400w halide and as reflector goes I was gonna use a big luminarc reflector.

thats how I lit it. one 400 watt and a lumenbright. worked well but the outer edges could definantly have used more light.

Update time over the holiday weekend got the lights up and moved livestock and liverock over from temp setup.
Ended up useing three 250watt hqi bulbs are phoenix 14k
Heres some pics still comeing up to blue in pics cant figure out whitebalance on new camera yet.

Still having problems taking good pics of the tank the angles are hard to capture.

i really like the aquascaping. nice job is that a tunze rock or just a rock with a hole in it there?

Its made out of cement and sand mix forgot what brand sand. There is a thread in the diy forum. The pain about it is you have to put it in fresh water and change the water every day for a few months. I had nothing better to do for 6 months being laid off.

Here is my new fish i have always wanted one but could never find a healthy one in the LFS around here. He was eating live brine in the store. I have been mixing live brine with frozen myiss and he has been eating the myiss along with the brine just hope i can wing him all the way over to frozen foods.
Here is a pic of him out of 50 shots this one is the best. Probly would have helped if i cleaned the glass first.
