i have a 55g w/ clown trigger, niger trigger, porc puffer,4 strip damsel,s.f.eel, lemom peel angel. would like to add coral beauty or flame angel. i've heard that dwarf and large combo work any thougts or coments?

wow, that is a lot of fish for a 55g. The clown, niger or the porc puffer alone are going to outgrow that tank fast.

You should be taking all those fish out and not adding more fish or purchase a 200g tank.

salty thanks for your input, but what about the angels, the tank is 2 yrs old w/the same fish and no problems

minus the fact that your fish are most likely completely stressed out, not healthy and will eventually die (no matter what size the fish are), I have read on this board where people have successfully housed them together in much larger tanks.

I have also read tons of threads where clown triggers decide to go nutty and kill everything in the tank (btw, those were much larger tanks and the fish weren't cramped)

I would not add any fish as those triggers are big waste makers.

describe your set-up? what kind of skimmer ? how much rock? ect.

My porcupine puffer has grown over 3" in a year. With feedings every other day. If yours still fits in a 55 it is either stunted growth or not healthy. I wouldn't add any more fish, but a dwarf, and large angel will mix in a larger tank.

Your tank is a disaster waiting to happen. It is a ticking timebomb.

and you need to upgrade all yur equipment, first by dumping the canister and biowheels (they are only good for a QT tank)

then either purchase a larger tank in the 200g range or sell your fish and purchase more appropriate fish.

I say post some pics if you can, but it is a lot of fish for a 55.....long term that is. I'd say to upgrade to a 6 foot tank if possible.

Consider yourself lucky, or rather your fish lucky that the tank hasn't crashed from being overloaded. Everyone is correct about your current fish load being too high for a 55, the triggers and the puffer in particular will outgrow a 55 in short order if they are healthy. As for adding another dwarf angel with the Lemon Peel, it's asking for trouble. While any of the large angels would work with the Lemon Peel, they all get far too large to even consider for a 55.

Seriously, I agree with everything that ya'll have told him, and I am shocked that his system hasnt crashed (it will though). But to have that selection of fish in a 55 gallon, is insane. I am also surprised the triggers havent killed everything just to make room for themselves. He needs to upgrade QUICKLY, and not just the tank, but equipment as well. His nitrates have to be through the roof.

[welcome]

How big are your fish? If they are just babies, it's not so bad for now. But the snowflake and the puffer have to be huge, right?

You have come to the right place for help and I hope you aren't put off by the strong responses you've received so far in this thread. Many of us have been in this hobby so long and what seems obvious to us is anything but obvious to a beginner.

I am so glad you found RC, because info you get from the fish store is so often pretty useless.

What I think would be the very best thing to do, but you're likely not going to -- is too sell all of your stock or return them to the store for a credit. Do a bunch of research to decide how you want your tank to be and then begin to stock again.

Since you're not going to do that :D I strongly suggest that you remove any large fish asap.

The angels you mentioned can be combined, but not in a 55g tank and in a even in a larger tank you need to learn more about it first. You perhaps could add a cherub angel. But only after you've removed most of those other fish :) And read up some on how it's done.

HTH :) Please pst back to let us know how things are going

Ok - I'm sorry but I previously missed the part where you said all these same fish have been in this 55g for 2 years?
