2 sets or mating clowns in the same tank

It can. It usually doesn't. I have a 4' 60 gal tank that has housed an orange skunk pair and a percula pair for at least 5 years. Both of the pairs spawn regularly. The percs lay about every 10-14 days. The skunks spawn less often, but spawned sporadically when they were by themselves as well. There have been many times when both pairs have had eggs at the same time. I have never seen any conflict.

I believe this to be the exception rather than the norm. Personalities of clowns will vary, even within the same species. I think there are some reasons it has worked for me, but I also got lucky that I don't have any nasty females.

Most of the time it doesn't work out, when they begin spawning they almost always become very territorial, though as stated, there are very rare situations where it does work.
Personally I'd be pretty bummed if I spent a fair amount of money or even just became attached to a pair of clowns to come home to battle scars and fish deaths.
There are way too many fish options that are a much safer choice.

I have a 6' 180g and had 2 mated black and white couples and had to sell one couple because it was war. It worked for a while but then they decided they couldn't stand each other :( I wouldn't try it if i were you.
