2 Tangs in a 125?

For a couple years now I've had a Powder Brown Tang in my 125, along with a couple Chromis, a Blenny, and a clownfish. I was considering adding a second tang, hopefully a Tomini.

Would the Powder Brown & Tomini have enough room in a 125 (6' long) to co-exist?

I have a tomini, lavender, and black tang in my 125, there was only a bit of aggression after I added the big black, but I took out a couple of arches and have a pretty open 3 island scape and they've been great for a year, the black since late march. Heck I even got them to eat bubble algae and sawblade calurpa. Each fish is different, but I bet a tomini would work out for you.

They should be ok, but since the more aggressive tang is established you might have trouble adding the second fish.

Its hit and miss. I would move some of your scaping around, and make sure the Tomini has a few places to hide. The Powder Brown could be pretty aggressive towards the Tomini.

I agree with the others. The two tangs can co-exist in a 125 just fine as they are different types of tang.

However, your problem will be whether the powder brown will let another tang into the tank. You must be prepared to remove one if there is a problem. I would put a mirror on the side of the tank before introducing the tomini and use an acclimation box, plus rearrange the rocks, to give yourself the best shot at having it work. It may help if they are of substantially different sizes (best if the powder brown is the smaller fish, but I imagine that is not likely if you have had it very long).

As others mentioned, 2 is fine, the dominate (PBT) being established could be an issue. Lights out, moving rocks, dropping nets in the water, mirrors on the sides, etc. may work. I tried all of that with a YT and it did not work - but I am sure there are others who it worked for - depends on the fish.

What I would suggest that has worked well for me add a hippo tang, foxface, CBB or rabbit fish - something with some size at the same time as the Tomini.

I have had a 1. (hippo tang) + 2. (YT/scopas/PT or Sailfin or bristletooth type) + 3.(Powder blue or brown) multiple times over the past several years in a 125g.

Sometimes substitute rabbit or foxface for the PB (#3) combo.
