Just a question regarding the date of the swap; has it always been in late January? Reason I ask, with it being held only 4 weeks after Christmas, I'm trying to figure out how to come up with disposable funds. Perhaps it's to keep from conflicting with other regional swaps. Just thinking, maybe in the future, early March might allow for deeper pockets...potentially more revenue generation for the club, higher attendance maybe, more vendor participations, etc.

Not saying anything is bad about last year or the plans for this year, all is great, just thinking there might be other dates with more advantages, personal and business wise...

Map,

for the last 5 or 6 years it has been at this time of year. It co-insides with the other swaps like the east and west clubs.

I thought the East swap was late summer/early fall... Also a consideration, is inclimate weather...what if a 10" snowfall occurred, show goes on or gets cancelled or rescheduled?

I've assisted with coordinating large functions (400+ attendees), including dinner and auction items (donations), it is always scheduled in mid-March, one year we had 5" of snow (what are the odds right) and had to cancel/reschedule in April, it still turned out a successful event, but wow, what a headache.

I am having the same issue. I want to be able to pick up some awesome pieces, but yeah my kids clean me out for Christmas.......I will be saving my birthday funds to buy some awesome things hopefully the stuff I like is expensive, but who knows right? Later in spring early summer may be a good idea......also gives people a chance to join the club and not have to pay dues in the same month.

No Body will listen, When it comes to changing this (Not Ideal) Swap Date I have tried for 4 yrs to get it changed. Aside from the reasons you mention above the cold weather is by far the best reason to have it later in the year. Just because someone in the past chose a less than ideal date does not mean you have to keep making the same mistake.
And i know about all the other clubs we may offend, But we are the largest and should pick the best time of year for ourselves and if they find the need to change their dates then let it be! JMHO

No one ever brought this up. Moving the swap dated. In the pass I when I join the club I brought it up have in July or aug. But reply I got that ETRC had there's in June and chat reef club was in AUG and ETRC was in NOV. Was no room or not eough time people to have frags ready. It will have to up to the new board. But not in may bc all vendors and companies that send us donations won't do it again so soon. Maybe next BOD will look in to this.

I gave up asking about it because it never went anywhere! Everyone knows how i feel about it being in the coldest part of the year. And we are lucky we have not been snowed or Iced out yet and lose our shirts because of it being cancelled. With expensive corals no one wants to risk them to the ice cold weather and wind up losing stuff. JMO

Funny I talk to them a week before there swap. And gave the new guy a about 100 fliers that's taking over the saltwater part of the store. He was going to put out at there swap.
We got it cover now and I'll have to bring it up with Them.
