Holy crap balls! That's like 8 weeks! Gotta get shootn' ! I just hung a trail cam and cut some shooting lanes. Fever kicking in....

NICE! I still have to get the trail cam out. Hopefully next weekend. I have two more ladder stands that have to be put up as well.

Crazy how quick the seasons coming up!

Alas, I'm taking this season off...too much of a cluster **** re: our property!

I'll be living vicariously through you folks!

That sucks. I'm miserable now. If I had to sit one out, I'd pop a stitch. Maybe you can come sit here one day? I've got a ton of little spots and one big one. Love to have you along.

No worries Cul...after not missing any opener/season after 15 yrs I don't mind sitting one out my friend.

Gracious offer but I'm benching myself.

I'm sure you can hunt with us on our property.... And it's in Bristol.... pretty close to you.... you know you want to.... hahhaha

Seriously though... Even if it isn't opening day. Usually it is just me and my father's friend on the land bowhunting. Don't be afraid to PM me when we get closer to the season starting.

Curious...do you guys prefer morning or afternoon hunts? Just generally speaking...regardless of rut timing.

Although I've seen more deer movement in the afternoon, there's just something about being in-stand in the dark waiting for the woods to wake...I love the morning hunt.

I generally like morning hunts, especially during gun season. I tend to hunt from the ground. I'll get in my ground blind or place, and then watch the woods come alive. Seeing the fox, squirrels, etc is always fun.

Agreed.

On our property, there's a shallow gully, (would that be an arroyo?), ;) , that runs the length of the 20 acres. It is wet but not bad. My first season ever, the months preceding my discharge from the USAF, I was outfitting myself from RedHead and Cabelas catalogues. Pumped. My first morning ever after seeing several deer but too far from stand, I climbed dwn to head to the "break area".

I got to the bottom of the gully and sat on a fallen tree and decided to make a couple awkward sounding "grunts" on the grunt tube. Low and behold I heard some crashing coming toward me. I dropped the tube that hung from a lanyard around my neck and drew my bow back.

A half-rack 6pntr came and turned broadside to me. I took aim, loosed the arrow.....and missed soulfly because I almost got choked-out from the strings catching the leather lanyard around said *****'n neck! LOVELY!!!!!!

I laughed at myself a few agonizing moments later and never made THAT mistake again. Haha!

Been hooked ever since!

HAHAHA, I made the "grunt tube lanyard" mistake on a decent sized doe my first year. My first time bowhunting I misjudged the distance to a decent sized 7 point. Trailed it for well over 700 yards. It laid down, got up and ran, laid down again, and kept going. I never found it :(

I was hooked. I like bowhunting more than I do with the shotgun. I can't wait for shotgun this year though. I think I'm going to be picking up a Super Redhawk and leave the shotgun home.

I SOOOOO need to fill out my paperwork.

doooo iiitttttttt! I wish I did mine when I turned 21. I waited until I was 26. I love my 22a. That thing is so accurate, with just the "iron" sights.

Excited as well. Have to see what work has in store for me in the coming months. It'll make all the difference in where I end up.

Getting the itch. Tree cows don't get the juices flowing like they used to. I have a couple new spots to try this year. Really excited about the boy taking his hunter safety course this month. Goose opens in sept.

I'm glad you're kid is interested. I have a 16 month old and look forward to enjoying hunting and fishing with him.

The boy is great . Cold and early are not his favorite. My 4 y\o daughter is freakishly into anything outdoorsy. I d bet she ' ll be the one taking me out when i' m older and grayer
