20k lighting and Clams

Currently running a 250w DE Ushio over a 24x24x18 clam tank. Thinking of throwing a 20k XM over it in place of the Ushio. There are no actinics on this tank so the Ushio is getting a little unpleasent to look at. Any problems with a 20k XM?

I like the look of the 20k XM. It does looks kind of purple however. If you want just a slightly blue look, then go with a 12 or 14k bulb.

Since im not going to run actincs on my clam tank I decided to go with the AC 14k....excelent coloration, plus the pop it gives color,,,and here is the kicker its only 2 units of par less than the ushio 10k DE

I am runnning 20 K xm over my tank with 15 different clams, maximas, croceas, deresa, hippopus, etc. All are healthy and look real nice.

Have you ever run 10k's over the clams? Is there a big color difference in the clams themselves?

No, but I have gotten some out of tanks with 10k, without much difference.
