what i do think is strange is that most people are so worried when they have some algae... some of the healthiest systems are the dirtiest....i do beleive i read that from a reefer who has had his tank for over thirty years. Some people do so much work to have this pristine tank and it ends up crashing because of some mis-hap with there complex system. Sometimes simpler and more natural is better IMO. Plus I love the different kinds of algaes.... but this is hard when my favorite fish are tangs!!!

well this is quite entertaining! being defensive is a natural response when people are telling you things you dont want to or arent ready to hear. I do the same when my wife gives me advise on doing things that would perhaps make life go along more smoothly. then after I'm done shooting down her suggestions that make perfect sense during the confrontation, on my day off I suddenly begin to pick up around the house and clean more than the aquarium. nevermind I just told her two days how many more hours I worked than her ,how much more money I made and made reference to the 3% contribution to the clutter of the house I'm responsible for. I bet through all that resistance you put up you are implementing and taking the valid advice to heart and will get things turned around.
 
I've read through this thread and I'm pretty disgusted. Again and again you shoot down other members' tanks and try to showoff that you have money and can put "established" livestock, rock and corals into your tank. An established tank is a mature tank. Do some reading. Buy some books. Research on these forums. Ask questions, follow advice and stop saying that you have all this experience when it shows that you do not. If you knew all that you claim to know, you would not be having all these problems. Telling someone to get a job and to put something in their tank is juvenile and petty. In case you haven't heard, there's a lot of people without jobs right now, including myself. I take huge offense to that remark. By the way, if you have all the money you keep talking about, hire a reputable company to care for and look after your aquarium. Then all you have to do is sit there and look at it.
 
Lazy woman=not good army material. I have a B.S. in Environmental Science and am currently awaiting word on a position with the D.O.E. Kill any other livestock today?

This thread is worse than a day at PetCo.
 
Good example on how not to set up a reef tank..

Adding live stock to early and the tank has a major nutrient problem.
Whys would anyone add acropora when the tank has so much algae.

Algae should never be that bad, must be badly over feeding.
 
Elegance it is very difficult to believe that you have been in this hobby for so many years (since 1990) by the look of your tank... I have never seen so much green in a mature tank.
For once in your life be a man and accept that you are wrong in what you are doing, keep to the advice you are been given, you might have that much money like it seems you say you have, but mate dont waste it on livestock that are extremely beautiful which are going to die in your tank.

Sorry man, but you're foolhardy beyond belief. And if you're in Fargo, why aren't you out preparing for the floods?
 
Mate no one is starting a fight, but I do find a stupidty is asking for other reefers advice and not taking it, but what the hell if you find your tank attractive I'm very glad for you. So I think the biggest loser here is you........
 
see this is what i mean.... people make comments and they have no clue what they are talking about.... there is more than just what your dumb mind has come up with. Did you ever think maybe my place doesnt flood....and my entire company has been sand bagging other people homes for over a week now at my expense so maybe you should shut the $#&@ up. Moron!!!

Corals growing, new fish coming soon, and all while I keep doing it all wrong....LOL you got it all figured out thats why all my corals are doing well and will continue too. And I love to see that it "gives you hell"
 
Mate keep the insults to yourself.. I have read the whole thread and your tank does not look impressive at all, just by looking at your last tank shot it looks more like a fresh amazonian fish tank than a marine tank.. and if you say that your corals are doing well then you have not seen what amazing corals look like.....so mate check out other tanks then look at yours and reflect on it.
