WOW...AND YOU TELL ME ABOUT FISH... YOU DONT SEE ME BUYING ANY FISH THAT I HAVE TO GIVE AWAY BECAUSE I CANT KEEP THEM HAPPY. WHY DID YOU BUY A FISH THAT CLEARLY IS GOING TO OUT GROW YOUR TANK. YOU MUST NOT CARE ABOUT THIS HOBBY AT ALL.....

NOT TO MENTION THAT FISH IS ONE OF THE MOST AGGRESSIVE TANGS....I WONDER HOW MUCH I COULD PICK APART THAT TANK. POINT OUT ALL THE THINGS YOU DID WRONG.

HYPOCRITE!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, you kill your fish before they have a chance to get that large, and if you took the time to research the adult sizes of many of the fish we keep you will see that most are to large for our tanks at there adult size, Like your 3 Yellow Tangs. They will be to large for your tank assuming they make it that long, then you will have to give them away as well, but please tell me why does wartskin having to put his fish in a public aquarium such a bad thing?

This fish was removed from a customers tank that I reset when I did maintenance it was not in my aquarium and removed for the reasons that we are talking about. I did not mention this earlier and that was my error. Truth be told I have never had a tank set up larger than 120 gallons, but did maintain large ones. I really do wish you the best of luck and hope that you will take some of the advise.

I still think two yellow tangs is to much. They can get to be rather large, if they live long anyways. Yeah, I would be cautious with two yellow tangs.

^So you think 2 yellow tangs is to much for a 210? Are all tangs open to a 210, but only 1 of them? For example, say a person wants a powder blue tang, would 1 in a 210 be reasonable? Or are there tangs people should just simply not keep because we dont have the means to house them?

I only think 2 is to much when you look at all the fish he has in there. If I had a 210 and wanted tangs, I would feel comfy with 2. Probally put a pygmy angel in there and another fish as well. I really like flame angels or maybe a wrasse of some sort.

Now I'm wondering if you guys are just antagonizing him. 2 yellow tangs is much for a 210g. That is insanity, just the most absurd thing I have ever seen on any web site. At that rate what can you keep in a 120g? A pair of clownfish? I meen get real.

I personally wouldn't do two yellows in a 210 --- mainly because of fighting, it is possible to keep 2 tangs in a 210, but there are a lot that wouldn't work -- Clown, Shoal, Unicorn, and any of the Nasos, plus a few that I am forgetting.

^Well im asking for advice, before everybodys rants in this thread, I thought 4-5 tangs were accaptable in a 210...

What about a Powder blue, yellow, and naso tang in a 210, no other fish, yay or nay?

Powder blue and yellow would be fine. I wouldn't put any Naso in a 210. (( Naso is just the "first name" of a sub-group ---, with Naso Lituratus, being one of them ))

So are those the only two fish, or could other thigns be added? Like some small fish to "fill in" the tank a bit more? Chromis, wrasse, pair of clowns, ect..

I only believe it is to much considering all the other fish that are in there. Like a crowded subway cart. Read the second post I made to that question, it qualifies my reasoning, atleast I think so.

Others would be fine, but that would be the only tangs that I would put in that tank.

what are some good tangs to put in a 75g?

That is really a gray area. Perhaps a kole tang, and MAYBE a yellow or purple, but don't think either of those two would work long turn.

There is plenty of room for other fish. You just have to think about natural enviroment. Tangs need large territory to protect enough algae to meet their needs. So a tang sees another tang (especially a conspecific) as competiton for food. Tangs don't tend to pick on other fish.... though other macro algae grazer might get some aggression from them.

Kole (I would pass on the Yellow and purple) maybe scopas or mimic yellowpeel, blues, powder browns or a bristletooth tomini. Bristletooth have a max size of 6 inches though some folks find that tangs kept in a four foot tank will not reach the listed maximum size. In a 4 footer keep it to one tang and watch your swimming room (ie don't overfill w/ rock). I advise getting as small of a tang as possible and letting it grow in the tang, a small one is much easier to QT in a big plastic tub to make sure it's ich free. :) that's my 1 cents worth (had to cut back for the economy)

does everyone agree that DAVID SAXBY'S tank is the best tank they have seen? if you havent seen it search it on youtube.com!

i counted over twenty five tangs in one picture!!! If you do the math thats 48gallons of water per tang....if you do the same math with my setup....its 42gallons per tang. So i still wonder why everone keeps saying you can only have a certain amount of tangs....like it is written in stone somewhere. It depends on a hundred different factors. There is no rule!!!!IMO. which no one seems to agree with on here!! which is ok i guess.
also i would like to add i setup my rock structure with lots of open swimming area to keep these tangs happy, and it seems to be working.
Another note...All of Mr. Saxby's tangs are large...some huge!! and he has less room per gallon than i do (more live rock, corals larger fish, and more fish) so that number would tip in my favor even more if you take this into account.

Further more....the proof is in the long haul...so if i kill these fish then i guess i was wrong....but i am putting my money on not.
