i am using that patch of algae as a reference for my phosphates. Right now they are at .5ppm and nitrates 0 and it has been slowly growing smaller and smaller. Plus the tangs eat on it.

Some folks find bryopsis growing in even nutrient poor systems once established. It can be a real bear. Of course having something in there that eats it makes it a much more manageable affair. It actually is pretty in its own way, it moves in the current nicely, but my tank is too small for a tang and I ended up using the increased Mag method to try and control it.

I thought mine was kinda cool too until I found out what it was...lol. I killed mine with a kalk paste and scrubbing with a toothbrush. It hasn't come back so I think it's dead (crossed fingers). Kinda like aiptasia... kill it while you can. It may look pretty (and PetCo may try to sell it as "special") but it's a pest and should be killed off...

well since it was about five times larger than that and seems to be under control i plan to enjoy it while it lasts and my tangs do too! But thanks for the warnings.

well if it's under control you should be just fine. It is a pest and you are aware so if it get's bad there are a couple ways to kill it. But if it is under control I guess no need to get rid of it...

I didn't check back from the last time i posted. I didn't think you would stock more so soon since many of those fish losses weren't so long ago. Are the tangs and such all done with ich do you think?
What do you feed the fish?

The tank is really starting to look better, congrats! I like the frags on the back too, I may try that but I haven't had much luck in the past.

As a warning, I saw 22 fish in one of those pictures and count over 35 according to your stocking list. That may be headed towards disaster. I'd really like to see feeding time though.

feeding time is crazy....i feed a hundred dollars worth of food all blended together and frozen into flats. I break off a chunk about the size of two or three normal frozen cubes and I do this about 3 times a day. I check my nitrates and they are always 0. My refugium is growing off the hook and everything looks like it is doing really well.
There is fourty fish....i forgot to list the skipper blenny.
Almost all of them eat right out of my hand now. It is really a rewarding feeling when they do it too. They nibble on my fingers, it is really cool.

Nice food mix. I am glad you added how much you spend on it as well. I am almost as excited to find out how much you spend as you are to tell us. I didnt have time to read the entire thread but what happened to the great looking clams you placed in the sand? I know everyone said they were looking bad and would die, but you swore they were fine. I bet they are huge by now. Keep up the good work and continue to keep everyone updated.
Oh, I am glad the loser you said would never have a nice tank like yours stopped posting. Maybe hes saving his money like you said he should. Or maybe hes trying not to talk to his mom the way he talks to you, that was sooo funny the way you said that! Nothing like talking about someones mom to set the mood! Next time someones child says parents are out of touch, we can say "now wait a minute, grown-ups act like immature children at times...we even talk about peoples moms too". You will be the next tank of the month.
