210 Gallon Display - 210 Gallon Filtration

I'm beginning to think that the large tank forum is where I belong..... You guys are all crazy!
And I LIKE it!!
When I read you were changing over to sps, I perked right up!
How will you fix the cracked eurobrace?
Good luck and I'm interested to watch your tank develop.

Been following your adventures for years! All of the awesome SPS tanks here made me want to switch to purely SPS for sure. Sick and tired of invasive stuff that kills my SPS and overruns the tank.

I will have to drain the tank (thankfully I have a lot of random large tanks lying around... I'm a hoarder...). I will drain it, cut out the euro brace, and replace it with a brand new one. Wait about a week, then fill it back up and start over again. :headwally:

Just curious, as I really have no knowledge of the physics behind weight/pressure distribution, do you worry about it cracking again?
To me, if a eurobrace cracks, it would indicate an issue with leveling or maybe a not completely squarely built tank..

Yes, I'm pretty worried. But it could have been a flaw in the glass to start with (which is what I'm hoping). Even with the split, everything else looks great. The tank is thick enough that it would probably be fine even without a eurobrace. I did some vigorous measuring last night, and it looks like there is zero deflection anywhere, in the tank, or in the stand. Everything remains perfect dimensions to the 16th of an inch. So that makes me a little less worried.

But no matter what it is always going to be on my mind. lol.

What did the builder (Concept Aquariums, right?) say about that crack? Doesn't seem like that should happen ...

I've heard good things about concept aquariums.. If it was them who built it..
Looking closely at the crack, it looks like there were some chips of glass that came out at the outside point of the crack..
If nothing hit it there, it would seem to me that in order for chips to come off like that, the two edges would have to pinch together...
Water pressure is pushing out.. I would assume to see chips come off at the inside point of the crack since technically the outside edge should be opening due to the water pressure..
Just seems odd to me.. Sorry if I'm obsessing.. Just seems odd..
I guess it happens..
You sure nothing fell on the tank?

Could have, but there's not much there that would have fallen. Only thing I have on there right now is a screen top and a light fixture. It is extremely odd. The crazy thing to me is the gap that is in between the crack. it's almost an 8th of an inch gap in the crack now. But the guys at Concept are being awesome as always. I'll have this fixed up in no time.

Great build. The water change system in particular is cool

Thanks! The water changing system is awesome. Full 40 gallon water change in about 6 minutes. Really takes the hassle out of that part of maintenance. And the settling/skimmer tank works awesome. Always lots of gunk built up in there that I just stir up and drain out.

Guys at Concept were amazing as usual. Tank was drained half way and new eurobrace was installed. Everything looks great. Now just going to wait 4-5 days to silicone to cure properly and I will fill it back up.

I also think it's time for a new bottom sump. Need more room for water volume. My Tunze ATO failed in the open position last night. And because I have the one main pump turned off because of the partial tank drain, the water level in my sump was higher than usual. Dumped about 5 gallons of water onto my floor.

It's amazing how much water 5 gallons is when it's spread over your floor! Luckily my fish room has a cement floor, and nothing was damaged but my ego.
