210 Gallon Overflow Question

I an currently building a 210 gallon system that will be in a wall between two rooms. Both 6' lengths will be viewable in each room. The problem I am having is how will I plumb this. I can't get the standard reef ready because they are either cornerflow (perfecto) or dual overflows on the back wall (AGA). I was thinking of drilling the bottom and using a single overflow on one of the 24" sides as they will not be viewable. I would have about a 12" laminar flow and will put 2 x 1" bulkheads with dursos either draining out the bottom or the side of the tank. I am trying to minimize the overflow as much as possible. The All-Glass 210 has a tempered bottom so I can only drill the side. The Perfecto can be drilled on the side or bottom, but, has a brace in the centre of the tank so I can't use 3x MH that I have now. Anyone have any suggestions. I live in a small area of Eastern Canada, so custom is not an option. I need this project completed before Christmas.

Maybe this'll help.... this is my 180 Peninsula, in progress. Plumbing isnt totally done because I'm waiting for Spaflex to show up, but most of it is there.... I drilled 4 holes in one side. Didnt want to do the bottom (although its a Marineland and I could have), because I wanted to be able to see it (rather than it be buried in the sand) and be able to keep some of the water in the tank in the event of a leak.
I used 2 700 GPH Overflow boxes from glass-holes.com. They're incredibly low profile. I havent tried them out for silence, etc... yet because of the above mentioned plumbing delay, but from what I've heard they're pretty good. My Oceansmotions is going over the top of the rim, and I'm running pipes down the sides above the tank so I dont have to drill a billion holes. You'd obviously have the ability to drill both sides.

Thanks for the links and attachments. I have decided to change to a 180 since it is an in wall and reaching the opposite side will be impossible on a 220. I am going to do the end overflow.

Savethereef, how many drains do you have in your overflow? I was thinking of two 1" standpipes for a drain. That way I can feed two skimmers.

You have no type of standpipe at all on those overflows?? Are you worried about noise?

Nope... the inside of the box is baffled, negating the need for one.

Those are quite slick, I looked at their website. I wish I was able to drill through the bottom instead of the side, but, I do not have the room.
