220 Gal Build for a 700 gallon system (STRS)

As the title suggest Ive decided to make a build thread of setting up my new 220 gallon tank. The actual dimension are 72x24x30 high and i plan on making this a dominated sps tank with a select few lps corals.

A little info about myself Ive only been a hobbyist for a few years now but Ive been observing Reef tanks for over 20 years. My father who is also a hobbyist has been keeping reef tanks since I was born and because of this i got influence into this hobby at a young age. During my infant stages of reefing i learned a vast amount of knowledge through my fathers failures and successes. Another fantastic learning tool I found was reef central which has given me more knowledge then im able to psychically put into words along with my found passion for loving sps corals. (AKA Fancy glow sticks)

Being my 4th tank id like to do along of things right this time around that I wasnt able to do with previous tanks I have owned in the past. Im by no means perfect so if your expecting a perfection type build then i highly suggest not to look at this one however i intend to try and make this a fun experience. Now enough with all the long rambling I believe at least a few pictures are in order to start..

Guess I better subscribe to this one since I can still feel my back throbing from moving that monster!!:eek1: HAHA!!

I have a 265 Gallon tank upstairs connected to the system a 55 gallon frag tank 100 gallon sump and a 50 gallon refuge thats gonna be upgraded

I choose to keep all the tanks connected to keep every thing simplistic / cheaper , all plumbing links to a room in the basement so there is no sound near any of the display tanks. I find little point of keeping x3 of multiple pieces of equipment when one big one will do the job. I cant imagine paying for multiple chillers reactors skimmers and monitoring systems to maintaining these systems not to mention i like doing water changes for just 1 system:)

I'm surprised that a 100 gal sump can handle even the backflow of of the pumps shutting down on 600 gals with a power loss -- much less the filteration required for all of those tanks????

what chiller are you using to handle that load?

and what is the return pump that will cycle through multiple floors and tanks?

BACKFLOW: Total Backflow is 30G + 40G in sump = 70gallons used in a 100 gallon capacity sump. (15D fr 265G-Tank + 10G fr 220G-Tank + 5G fr 55G-Tank)
PUMP: System upstairs is approx 10 ft high. Blueline-70(39ft max head) and 2 GenX-40(22ft Max head) (one used downstairs)
CHILLER: Chiller grossly under capacity. Using 3 fans with Apex Controller to reduce temperature.

Here is a Picture for the general idea

interesting setup... thanks for sharing the drawing. always like to see how folks handle plumbing (maybe I should have been a plumber)

If you need a chiller it makes since and hell if you can run all that on one skinner it really makes cents.
Nice setup

I actually use two skimmers for my setup because of the volume of water and i didnt get a good enough skimmer the first time! I would of gotten a super reef octopus xro 3000 or 5000 if i knew id be upgrading my tanks so soon but whats done is done.

Few more progression photos heres an additional 75 lbs of pukani dry rock ill be adding to the tank I used all pukani with my last tank and i love the look of the rock enough to continue using it.

Few updates on photos i seemed to of somehow lost my pictures of adding the and and putting just the dry rock into my tank so ill just continue with more equipment pics
