225 'Reef Shelf' Tank Up And Running

Very nice tank and setup !

would it be possible to post more pics of your sump and details on it: size, what's in it, etc ?

Also, can you give more details on your skimmer and calcium reactor ..since it's H&S :D

Cheers !

Some updated shots. Took these yesterday while over there.

This is what his Palmer's blue prostrata looks like.

His lokani. One of his nicer pieces that he isn't fragging (growing it out as a larger colony).

Don't know the lineage of this one, but rather nice.

His centerpiece. Beautiful granulosa that he's trying to recover; it hasn't been doing too well.

Another favorite of his. Not sure what it is, but quite nice with a thinner structure.

Aquascene/icefire echinata. One of the larger colonies that I've seen. Partial colony picture.

A very nice table; either an efflo or a soli (forgot to ask).

Eric-

These are some great shots! I am envious of your equipment and, more importantly, your skills using it. Thanks for sharing!

Just to clarify for the fans:

Correction: This is not Palmer's but another aquaculture prostrata.

Veri nice update Eric. You definitely have the photo skills.

Erik, You have a wonderful tank.

Working on some updated photos of the tank. Hope to be providing some more regular updates going forward. Here are some shots of the latz I just added about a month ago. The female is about 4" and the male is almost 3". These clowns get pretty big as clownfish go.

Nice red head wrasse. I had one but died awhile back. Now it's hard to find one. Very nice tank Eric.

Pics still don't do this tank justice.

Largest colonies of enchinatas, Oregon tort, and others that I have ever seen. Can't wait to get frags/mini colonies to help seed my tank....haha

Wow. Nice ... but it is nothing in compare with seeing it directly with naked eye. Your tank is the best tank I have ever seen in Bay Area. Good job!

Thanks Roy! I am hoping to have some full tank shots posted in the next week. Lets hope they turn out good enough for me to post.

In the meantime, I will post some of the original build pics as they were deleted from the start of the thread when my PictureTrail account expired. Why pay picturetrail when Photobucket is FREE!

Pictures of the stand and canopy as I received it. The salt damage was pretty bad. The canopy was retrofitted with a new top bringing it from 16" tall to 24" tall. This allowed it to accomodate the Lumenarcs.

Completely saturated wood where the dark patch is.

This is why you need to clean your hinges often and rub them down with a little oil:

Can you tell where the sump used to sit?? Yes thats salt all around...

And after a ton of work and a few coats of marine epoxy paint:

Some shots of the closed loop plumbing:

I did mockup with white plumbing as gray PVC is $$!

I no longer have this skimmer. Upgraded to a custom H&S 250- 2 x Eheim 1260 external skimmer.
