225 Tank build thread

Sorry guys, just playing the waiting game... Some bad news is that we are down to two yellow tangs, lost 2 yellows and the naso... :( He didn't look perfect when we added him to the tank (something on his sides) and it steadily got worse. Unfortunately Scott had the same luck with the Male Blonde we were going to get so now we're just waiting for the tank to be less brown. Still pulling about 2 inches of skim a day out of the tank and the rocks are pretty clean (thanks to the snails) but need the sand to get cleaned up along with the sides of the tank. Once the tank is no longer brown we'll get some more pics and hopefully we will have better luck with the tangs in the future.

Man sorry to here about the Tangs, I'd still like to see a picture. It's perfection in the making. You'll at least have a before and after picture.

I heard that with Naso's you want them to be around 3" or larger when you get them. Sounds like he might have had latteral line disease. Sorry for the loss.

For what its worth my diamond watchman goby did wonders for my sand bed. He is a digger and that gets annoying at times but man did he clean up the sand bed.

Murph, the one we had was at least 4-5 inches but it just seemed lethargic from the beginning even though it was eating... ??? Don't know what the deal was, but alas nothing we can do now.

Parameters are still doing great, I just need to take the time to get the CO2 tank filled. Anyone have a preferred place or making a trip any time soon and willing to take an extra tank with ya? ;)

Funny you should say that Josh, I just got done telling my Dad he should get some sand sifting gobies. LOL! I'm sure there will be some added soon enough. :D

I know, I know... I'll get some pics as soon as my Dad get's them posted in his photobucket. I didn't take my camera, so the pic's will be his. Stay tuned, he was talking about uploading them, but not sure if he meant tonight or this week.

I saw the tank last Saturday and its looking good! Eric and his Dad was actually still working on the system. They were building an ATO and a NSW changing reservoir. It never end huh Eric?! LOL!

ATO is done, NSW reservoir is built, power management is installed, fish and corals are starting to go in... Sorry no FTS's but here's a few of the newest additions.

The aquascape is very cool. This will be a sweet setup for sure.
Can't wait to see it mature.
Chris

BTW thanks for the large clam stands, Tim's large crocea now stays upright and I don't have to upright it daily :)
and my gold maxima fit the 3" perfect!!

How many pounds of LR do you have in there, and how do you think those tangs will get along? Just thinking about stocking my new tank.

How much flow are you gonna have, and what are you going to use to do it?

225lbs of Fiji LR, so far the Tangs are getting along just fine, there was an issue with the Yellows (had 4 and now just 2) but I think that was due to not enough other fish in the tank. We lost the first Naso, but I think it had something when it came in. Either way, this one is better looking and is eating like a pig! :D

The flow is already setup, I have a Dart running the open loop and I have a Dart running the closed loop. Before headloss that's 7200 gph or 32x turn over, who knows after headloss, but everything is in motion other than the coves which will be great for clams down the road. :D

Your tank looks awsome, I have the same setup, 225g with 2 darts, one on a closed loop. It's a great combination. Mine is 1 year old last week.

That's coming along nicely, Eric. Would you mind posting a vid of the surface agitation if you get a chance?

I'll see what I can do Cliff... I usually don't have my camera at my Dad's house but I'll try to remember it and get some video.

Hey Bro, guess you found the thread, thanks again for the tip on the eyelet bulkheads! I love the results with them and don't think I'll have a need for any additional flow (at least not until everything really grows out). :D
