ahhha septic huh? well I would do an external drain to the outside. I wouldn't put saltwater down the septic, I would drain onto the ground outside, maybe have the pump discharge out there.
Just a thought, I don't know if it would be too much work, it's just that septics are touchy (and Expen$$ive) so i don't know if i'd want to plumb it into the sewer.

As far as wafer board what is that? the stuff they put under siding on a house? or the subfloor? I'd think it would work, as long as its painted with a good waterproof type.

Well something to think about... :( I can't imagine a little salt hurting anything though... (I hope) Yep that's what wafer board is, figured I'd hit it with some Kilz once it was all together.

Oh darn! I have been dumping saltwater for almost 3 years now every week in my septic. LOL!

That's comforting to know. :D Guess only time will tell...

Guess it's time for an update... I've got 220lbs of Fiji LR "Cooking" in a pair of Brutes in my Dad's garage, sump is finished I just need a truck to move it to his house (48x20x24 two chamber) and still need to get the refugium ready... But tonight we drilled the tank, 12 holes 4 x 3", 8 x 2.5"

Here's some shots of the aftermath while I installed the last of the bulkheads. :D

I'll start the plumbing another day. :D

Looking good! I can come by this Saturday to help load the sump if you need to. Has to be in the pm though. Getting taxes done in the am. LMK.

Those are super clean Eric. I think we will see these pop up in a lot of new tanks from now on. Scott are you going to do these on the new Show Tank?? I think its a really slick idea, The less you see in a tank the better, once they become covered in coraline you'll hardly notice them.

I like how it will hit the corals from the sides, what are you going to do for surface agitation? The top 2 on either side? Aim them flat or slightly up?

Chris

That guy is a pain in the A$$ to get a hold of. I think Scott has the same feeling. I like the bulkheads though. I left four voicemails and two emails. When is the water coming?? :)

Thanks Chris, the upper ones (two, one on each end) are the returns from the sump and they will spray from the side across the surface hitting the center of the front. I'll have a dart return from the sump so other than the refugium feed I'll have a dart trying to shoot out two of these eyelets, should be some really good pressure. :D

Dan, as soon as I can get the sump over to my Dad's and we get the last of the plumbing installed it will be filled. :D

That reminds me, I still need one more 2" bulkhead for the sump, anyone got an extra or is anyone putting together an order where I can add one?

Chris, my Dad gave me the green light on the barn door track setup, so just let me know how much and when and I'll get it to you. I think you said $208.00 for the 4 trolleys and 2 tracks...

I'm good, Tim came over so all I have left is to get everything plumbed tomorrow. If you want to play with some pipe tomorrow give me a call, I could use the help getting this baby finished up and water tested!

Man! I busted my A for 9 hours yesterday working on plumbing and I still haven't finish. :( Here's where I'm at, and I'm happy with the CL using just 1 dart.

Here's the drain to the sump which is the Y at the top and pops back up on the right. The closed loop drains are the outer two w/ red valves which feed the Dart. The 6 closed loop returns are the 2 in the middle with the black valves at 50% and the two pipes you see at the very edges of the tank which feed the sides. Each side has 3 returns 2 are from the closed loop and the remaining is for a return from the sump which will be fed by another Dart.

Here's the surface aggitation with just the closed loop running. When I add the open loop with another Dart, I think I'll have plenty of flow! You can relax Russ, no leaks! ;)

Look's good, you managed to keep your red shirt pretty clean after all that work too ;) :clown: :frog:
