225 Tank build thread

Eric I'll call you when i'm en route I kinda remember but don't know the name of the street, I think it was a medivial name LOL that's about all i can think of.

We're gonna have to register with the bureau of ATF so we all don't get raided for our houses glowing under the infrared's.

Pix wouldn't have done it any justice if we leave the shutter length open the same as the 250's you'd just get a white picture, if we adjusted it, it wouldn't look any different. This is a must see in person, it's not quite as blue as Chris' bulbs (not sure on that, the nips are in the 3 o'clock position) but we're still really happy with the color and intensity!

:D Ummm, can you please clarify this statement.:D

I figured you'd say something Tim. :D

The inner bulbs on MH's have a nipple on them, don't get excited it's just a bump from manufacturing and supposedly the position at which it sits will affect the bulbs performance.

Russ, do you recall the best position? I thought it was 3/9 but the color looks about 14K instead of 20K...

It is hard to say why the color is off from Chris', it could be a simple as the lot number. Even a component on the ballasts could be different. The challenges of being in a new and elite club. Memebers to date......... two (2)

Guess we'll play with the nip position and see if there is any difference. Might just be the batch like Scott said. Either way, I'm totally stoked with the output from these!!!

I think mine are bluer, but I have a see through tank, no black background like yours.
I have deep coralline algae that could be a factor.
Either way I say they are bluer for some strange reason.
Who knows why.
I love the look of the tank, it's the way a reef tank should look IMO.
I know we are an elite club but I bet in a few years we will be the norm, as soon as the masses start seeing these tanks in person they will realize its not crazy at all, its just right.

BTW it takes some getting used to looking at the tank, 1K's are hard on the eye's till you get used to it. :)

Oh and BTW I totally see a chiller in your future, Sorry.

Well, I just got back from my Dad's house to fix the Ca Reactor pump (it's now running great) and the tank temp (middle of summer) after having both 1000 watters running for their full duration and the tank temp was 78.6! No chiller needed baby!!! LOL!

Also, after being away from the tank for a while and then seeing it again, it looks very blue at first and as you stand there, it appears more and more white, I think it's just due to the intensity coming from the tank your eyes adjust.

I was worried too, but with the vent fan running and the door open (with no body in the room) the fish room is actually pretty cool. Just when you get people generating body heat and standing/blocking the door to the theatre it starts to warm up a little, I think that is the difference we were seeing when we set them up.

Ah I see it got warmed up fast with all of us getting excited watching those things for the first time. LOL
I was like 1 degree in an hour? what will it do in 5 hours! That's great that its stabile at 78, I am amazed, that must be a large fan with a large vent pipe.
Chris
