Hi I was told of your tank by a mate and I also live in Highton, it is certainly a great build and I would love to see it, as i have also under taken some major renovations to also put in a large tank operating on two levels.

Do you mean your tank and equipment are in seperate parts of your house or the tank takes up more than one level of the house? Sounds interesting.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm following the house progress as avidly as the tank progress..... at least for the time being.
i know how busy it is when you're building a house, when you have time i think we all would like to see more pics....

Sorry for the lack of updates. Will post more photos this weekend... not much happened between 12/24 and 01/18... in my part of the world it gets hot and the builders go surfing!

sarmo, not quite sure about how to keep the algae off the acrylic. If worse comes to worst, I will have to buy some large rare-earth magnets and mould myself some curved algae magnets.

RE: power, in the short term, I will buy 4-8kW PV system and purchase 100% wind energy from the grid (in Aus, we can pay a ~$0.06 per kWh premium and be guaranteed that the energy comes from 100% renewables). The governement audits on a regular basis. On the longer term, I hope PV will become cost effective against carbon fuel in 5-10 years.

Will you be using batteries to store the power from the PV if there's any left or just feeding it back to the grid? I think the biggest issue with PV is space. They are large bulky and expensive. Much like anything they will become refined; I think 5 years is a safe guess. Ten seems a bit long.
