2300G Cylinder - Preview

Hola amigos!

After a couple of months there has been enough progress to post an update...

Here is the open plan area now plastered (drywalled I believe you call it...)

And from the other direction. This shot particularly shows how well the solar design has been considered. Middle of winter... near enough to 12 noon. In the summer, the sun won't enter at all!

Another tenuously related shot of the winter garden!

Now some more of the aquarium.

Both of these are from the rear entry

These two are shot from the lounge room. The second is a close-up showing heat recovery ventilator (venmar).

i am assuming that there is access to the space above your tank but i don't see it in any of your pics. are you planning on drywall (the bathroom, green waxed, kind) on the inside of that space or some other type of sheathing?

have you considered a sky light for both lighting and ventilation directly above your tank? i have fans above my tank but i'd rather vent the humidity out of the house if it were possible. unfortuately in my situation it is not possible.

thanks for the updates. your house looks great!!!

i was wondering where your going to access your tank from? is there a special door, or is there a side of the aquarium that we cant see?
just wondering how you access for maintenance or stocking ect?

WOW, i love this build.

Hi Sarmo,

i am assuming that there is access to the space above your tank but i don't see it in any of your pics.

There is a room behind the tank on one side. The picture below is not brilliant, but might gove you some sense of this.

I am planning on using recycled HDPE sheeting. The instructions to my architects were that the equipment room had to "able to hold water". I have seen what poor humidity control can do to a house.

I will have at least 4 solar tubes above the tank. Ventilation will be via a heat recovery ventilator. I will also have wall fans to help evaporative cooling in the summer.

thanks for the updates. your house looks great!!!

Thanks

Dahenly, as per above... I'm still not quite sure how I will effectively service the tank without pulling on a wetsuit?

Everyone else... thanks for the well wishes.

Wow it looks amazing so far, good job! I don't think I ever really got a sense for how large the aquarium is until I saw that picture from inside your fish room. It is enormous!

5 ton titanium heater/chiller- bollocks! That's HUGE!
The scale of awesome in this project is mind boggling.

The space above the tank, have you considered building a catwalk or platform up there? something you could climb up onto and maybe look down into the tank from? Easy access for replacing bulbs, etc.?

Nice house you got there and the reef will be awesome as well i quess, can't wait to see it with water. Good luck!

looks great Mark,

i drove past the other day. you are only a minute or 2 from me.

what are the logs out front for?

Damien
