24/7 lighting refugiums and pod farms what say you?

I have a refugium, a display one that i'm not sure a 24/7 photoperiod would benefit.



However i found on facebook a newbee with a small fuge with such an arrangement tha might be good for my pod farm.

Having seen his growth and the abundance in critters in his makes me wonder if the interuption of light is necessary to a pod's development or not, what do you think ?

Taken from my microscope certain pictures are quite revealing of the work some of those critters do.

Many pods are far more active at night. If the main purpose of the tank is for pod production, using 24/7 lighting would be counterproductive. Not necessarily saying they wouldn't do good, they'd just do much better with a natural diurnal cycle.

I'm also leaning towards that position too. Also algae too get benefits from an interuption in photosynthesis, other bio-functions can take place.
