240+g tank project

Here are some pictures from Chris's amazing tank although they really don't do it justice. It's difficult to understand how massive his colonies really are...

More to come...

Wow that looks incredible chris.
Your slimer and Millie are just insane! :eek1:

I'd like to come see that in person myself someday!

Thanks everyone!!! I'm just glad Jason took the time to come over and take some pics. I wish I had his talent with the camera.

Hear are a couple more pics that Hollback took when he came over. I'll post some more as I get time.

Thank you Shawn. I'm thrilled that I've had such good luck with my coral growth. It's amazing how full the tank looks after being set up for less than a year. The best advice I could give someone is to leave plenty of room for the corals to grow.

I probably will go BB here shortly because I plan on adding a couple Tunze 6200's to hit some dead spots, and that is where the sand is collecting.

Have you considered a rubble bottom? I just read the RC thread of the month:

I haven't thought about it, but it is definitely something to consider. I also just happen to have a couple 5 gallon buckets full of rubble.

cward have you decided on what you are going to be doing ??

Bare bottom with a remote DSB. I couldn't keep the sand I was using in place so I'm slowly pulling it out. I still need to get the goby out before I can finish. I'm thinking of using one of the shallow Rubbermaid stock tanks to hold the DSB, or I might break down and use an acrylic tank like my frag tank.

Hey Chris...awesome thread!! I guess I am just a little late though:D

How are you liking the custom Geo sump? Have you got it going yet?

I am looking forward to getting my big needlewheel from Geo soon....hopefully ;) I am going to run the wet-dry that he built me in series with the larger sump. It should be a really nice combination.

Those corals are amazing!!! I might have found a source for some nice stuff

The sump is working out great. I added some additional baffles to help cut down some micro bubbles. The skimmer is going to be great, of course you know we'll have to leak test it on my system for a week or two:D

We have talked about sending some frags to Griss, so I'll add some for you too if your ready.

No problems on the leak test, really. Just don't let any coralline algae build up on the acrylic :D

Griss and I are best of buds, so whatever he gets, I get ;) Thanks and I will return the favor someday!!

dave:)

Very nice!

I agree about the open spaces. They really give this tank alot of character. It is an awsome setup! :)
