Well, the worst thing that could have happened did.

the tank cracked right down the middle. about 200 gallons of water in my basement right now.

I am ready to hang myself right now.

oh my god thats terrible, so sorry to hear that. I am making a day trip to washington DC, but when I get back I can come over to help clean up if you need it, or if you need help tomorrow or the weekend. just pm me.
so sorry for the loss.

Thanks guys, I "think" I have it covered at this point.

From what I can tell... It cracked from the overflow right down to the bottom of the tank. So I don't know what the hell caused it, I would think that if the glass was tempered it would have cracked right away, although I have heard that it can take some time as well...

So much work, all for nothing...I think i am still in shock. I just hope I can fit all the rock in my sump and fuge for now.

Spare glass anyone??

Hey Brian, I'm so sorry!

Do you need my barrels for rock and stuff? I'm at work, but I can run home to meet you.

noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ihave room for your rock if u need it.

:(

Sorry to hear that, what a bummer. I offer my help in anyway I can help, do you plan of replacing the glass?

Rev

ugh... 3 hours of vacuuming and no end in sight.. reality is starting to set in now..

I managed to fit all my rock in my sump and fuge. So that is one less problem I have to deal with.. at least my bug population should skyrocket...

I'm not going to replace the glass.. The "spare glass" comment was if anyone needs any..because I have a whole bunch now!

I can't believe that I have to get this tank out of here...then bring another one down eventually.. now the sand is starting to stink as well.. so that has to come out today... what a waste of money...

This is one of those things that makes me want to get out of the hobby...

Thanks for your thoughts everyone... I feel like I could use help, but I guess it's just really a whole lot of vacuuming....

Oh, well....back to the fun

OMG Brian sorry to hear.... keep your chin up, not that it will make you feel any better but it could be a lot worse, be glad it happened now and not when the tank was fully stocked. Hang in their and if there is anything I can do just ask

I feel your pain. Really I do. I just had a 125 crack on me about a month ago. Luckily there was a store about an hour's drive away, that had another 125 in stock. I thank my lucky stars every day, that I was there when it happened. So I at least lost no livestock. I don't think I've ever had to clean up such a mess. And since I was there when it blew, my son and I were able to very quickly stick a couplef extra mag-drives in the tank and pump the lion's share of the water out the basement window. I don't even want to count how much time that whole fiasco consumed. Yours was a 240, and needless to say, your situation is twice as bad as mine was. If I were near you, I would be there in a heartbeat. I didn't throw in the towel, and I hope you don't either.

Sorry to hear about the accident Brian. Let me know if you need any help.

On the bright side it will be alot easier getting the 240 out.

Let me know if need any help getting that new 300g tank in the basement. ;)

damn that does suck!
if you need it I have an extra one of those 55G white barrels you can borrow, and a 50 gallon breeder in my basement with nothing in it. I'm pretty close if you need anything gimme a hollar...

you can probably still use the sand, it will just have to cycle again.
I did when my 30 gallon cracked. It stinks to high hell for a few days, but gets better when there is water over the top of it and it begins to re-cure.
