I am leaning more and more towards this acrylic tank.
Yes I would be getting it with an external overflow. The way they make it I could get it down the basement stairs. (not the bilco doors) I figure it's lighter, so it should be easier to get down there.
The overflow is going to be: 40"x4"x10" (l x w x h)
Brian, PAUL'S TANK is acrylic, and so was Malcolm's tank. One thing about acrylic I don't like is the scratch resistance. We polished his tank before we converted it to a reef tank, what a PITA that was! Buffing and polishing by hand nonetheless, you can't really use a machine to get rid of scratches on an acrylic tank, not recommended anyways. So, we had to do it one grit level at a time, crosswise, then up and down against the abrasion until the final buff. That's one good thing about the acrylic, you can buff out the scratches.
Nowadays, they have an option for a scratch resistant surface on the acrylic. Make sure you definitely add that as an option, unless they're all doing it now.
