Just a reminder of what it takes to have a spawning event. :fun5: :crazy1: :lolspin:  I don't think the lunar cycle moonlights had everything to do with it.

You know sometimes you see them little huts on the beach......I bet thats what they look like inside with pipes running into the sea :D

Thanks for the great links. I had a strange thought while viewing the video: Perhaps they let go at night to keep fish from gobbling up all the PE?

On our local club website, a fellow member asked if I had the AquaController data from the spawning event. I thought this was a great idea to see when and how the event transpired.

The water change was done at 10:30AM. In the graph, this is seen as the temperature dip as the probe is exposed to air as the water level drops in the tank. The spawning event started between 9:00 and 9:15 as seen by the sudden ORP drop. The ORP didn't fully recover until 7:00AM the next day. Also, note that my pH was running lower than normal due to a need to replenish my Kalk-reactor's calcium hydroxide. Typically, it varies from 8.4 to 8.2. But, pH didn't appear to have been effected by the spawning. More so, just the ORP. Here's the graph...

...and the 2-page PDF file link showing parameters on a 15-minute basis...

Link to PDF file.

Seems to me that's not too bad of a drop in ORP. I had expected it would be much worse based on your description.

jnarowe: It dropped at least 122 points in less than 45-minutes. In my book, that qualifies as rather severe. ;)

just awesome all around. Just added a Hammerhead on a CL and decided to add a timed air intake after reading about your results. Its only been a few days but its working nicely and I'm looking forward to seeing how it goes over the next few months.

And as always inspiring work, results, and ideas, Thanks for sharing them with us.

It's been a while since I added some eye candy to this thread so here's some for your viewing pleasure. I visited my friend Shu Tin and her amazing tank and snapped a few shots. Here you go...

beautiful shots Joseph. Thanks! Does she have a web site where we can learn more about her system and husbandry?

Joseph,

It appears that there are two Merten's carpets in that tank...is this the case?

Nick

Joe, she was in a couple months ago, and she said that she has/had a very rare clown, did you get any pics of it, or did she mention it at all?
