I should have explained the temperature variation as seen on the graph better. The reason the AquaController showed that temperature drop during the water change process is due to the tank water level dropping low enough during the water change that the probes are literally out of the water. It's during this 5 to 10 minute "low tide" that the temperature probe reads the air temp and not the water temp and is logged by the controller. In fact, I always temperature/salinity match my water change water to the existing tank water. So the only difference between the two waters (existing tank and fresh water change water) is the chemistry differences. Hope that makes sense and clarifies this better.

I prefer my probes fixed (sounds like some king of demented alien encounter event 
) as another instant alarm mode in the event of a water level drop. That, and it's another documenting of water changes aside from my calender notations I do. Otherwise, they are never out of the water.
I believe this spawning coincided with a quarter moon, albeit to the day, so it was more likely caused by the water change than any world occurrence. But really, I haven't a clue. And I'm pretty sure there's no Barry White in my collection of music.

I kinda figured that you wouldn't have that much temp variation from your water changes, but it would have explained the spawning event a little better.
How often do you see a coral spawning event? Does it correspond with any other spawning events, i.e. clowns, shrimp, etc.?

Knyght: Thank you very much. Oh... and for accuracy sake, the amps are McIntosh, not Macintosh. As far as I know, the latter has yet to get into the tube amp market... yet. These McIntosh amps were originally built in 1962. It would be interesting to see if any Macintosh product is still running smoothly in almost 50-years.
Chrisrush: I haven't gone back to document the frequency of spawning events (I should) so I'm not positive of the timing. But, I would guess anywhere from six months to a year apart and about four or five in total. No other coinciding event was obvious aside from the water changes just prior and most aligning to a full moon (typically to almost within a day) and a couple coinciding exactly to known natural reef spawning events.

Joseph, I am always inspired by your updates! I have a few questions for you.
1. Do all of your stony corals spawn at the same time or just a few different species?
2. Do you have any idea how many people in the world have been able to get corals to spawn in captivity, let alone on a regular basis?
3. And just to help out with my Christmas list - LCD or Plasma?

My bad. I knew that lol...I used to have some Luxman audio equipment. I really loved that stuff. Not that much longer to see if it works 50 yrs. later.

This was when the water looked like milk and it took water changes and a lot of input on my part to get the water back to "normal". This last spawning appeared to be just certain stags but it's really difficult to tell as I don't always catch it from the very beginning. It's always when the main lights are off so noticing it is that much more difficult. (2) I really have no idea of how many tanks spawn throughout the world but I do know of a couple other tanks here in California that have done so. (3) LCD or Plasma? It depends on whether your tank is deep sand bed or bare bottom.
