After a while of being away I still remember this tank. I know there are more favorities I have but this and Platapus's tank are the only ones I remember right now. Still looking good Joeseph! I sent you a PM too.

I know this must have been mentioned a thousand times before, but what kind of camera/macro lense are you shooting with?

I have found three things that you are highly skilled at. Your tank, picture taking, and writing. You are educating me in the ways of the reef.

Airman,
Thanks for the kind words.

BigEasy,
Most all of my shots taken using the macro lens are done so in the AV or Aperture Priority mode. This allows you to select the lens opening while the camera selects the speed for the best exposure. As you change the aperture, you can balance for fixed or moving subjects and overall depth of field.

With this sensaphone thing do they sell a temp prop that goes in the water thats saltwater proof. Will it call you if the water temp gets to high or low? Also I wanted to ask you about snails. Are you a believer in a clean up crew? If so what kinds do you have? I also want to thank you for doing all this. I have learned so much from this thread. Thanks again.

Emster,
They don't sell a true saltwater safe temperature probe but they do have a stainless steel version...

http://www.smarthome.com/7020a.html

I'm currently using this one with minimal erosion taking place. I simply clean it regularly and it's been fine. My plan is to eventually encase it in either a thin plastic sheathing or epoxy. I'm sure the readings won't be altered in doing so. The Sensaphone will in fact phone if the temp either rises or falls beyond a set level based on minimum and maximum set points.

It's funny that you should ask about clean-up crews as I just added a Reeftopia order to my tank today. This consisted of all snails in the following quantities...

300 Astrea Turbo Snails
100 Golden Astrea Snails
24 Cerith Snails
50 Nassarius Snails

I currently have no hermits in my tank since having done Interceptor treatments. Thanks for the kind words and you are welcome.

So when you put this probe in the water do you just keep the S/S end in only or does it go past the wire? Did you have any snails before this new clean up crew? I also would like to add that my yellow coris wrasse took care of my zoa nudibranch problem, but all you that are thinking of adding this fish, you have to have a sand bed because they sleep in the sand at night. Thanks for the help again.

adddo, Thank you.

Emster< Sorry for not having replied sooner. I place the SS portion in the water with the top (where the wire attaches) above the water level. I also clean it periodically so corrosion doesn't build-up.

I had snails prior to this clean-up crew but they have dwindled in number over time. It's good to hear that another had good luck with a Coris wrasse eliminating zoanthid nudibranchs.

Hey Joseph. Happy Holidays!

Quick question. I remember your pics you posted on your moonlights. I also got my DIY package from TheLebos! Anyway, I liked how you set your individual LEDs in the black boxes, so I bought some. My only question is how you sort of "daisy-chained" them along one line, or phone cord? The DIY manual has one phone cord per LED. I bought these things called "Small LED Box PCB" to be used with the "Mounting Boxes" I mentioned. Im assuming this is what you used to link all the LEDs together? I couldnt get any feedback from Brent Lebo, so Im hoping you could explain more on how you did yours?

thanks!

Bryan, Happy Holidays to you as well and to everyone else reading this. The LED's I have were special ordered from Lebos in the particular quantity and distance of wire between each light. The plastic boxes were the standard that he sells and they have a single two-strand wire between each. So... mine was basically plug-and-play. He actually sells the DIY manuals so this may account for your inability to get information from him. I'm sure though that an internet search will result in plenty of proper information. Sorry I can't be of further help.

Rock Anemone, If your comment is in regards to my tank and this thread, thank you very much.

Joseph.

Thanks Joseph. I actually have bought the Lebos DIY manual and built my LEDs previously using it on my 75G. However, the parts I bought (the boxes and these PCB devicies) arent covered in his manual

Here's the boxes that I think you used to house your LEDs - directly from his website:

Then, here is this "PCB Box" thing that I bought - note how he says this part is "not covered in his DIY manual"...

<b>Small LED Box PCB
This is a printed circuit board that was engineered to fit within the LED Mounting Box. This PCB makes mounting the LEDs and wiring much easier. It also adds that professional touch.

This part is used in the manufactured moon lights that theLebos.com sells. It is listed here for those that want to make their own repairs to these lights. Anyone is welcome to order these, however their use is not covered in the DIY Moon Light - Make Your Own! manual. </b>

Anyway, I bought this b/c Im thinking they will help me string the LEDs along in one line, or circuit, using less wire and connections. The Lebos DIY manual directs you to connect each LED in a different fashion - via its own seperate wire.

And, I thought from your pics, it looks like tou might've used this approach, and maybe also these PCB boxes.

I've been unsuccessful in getting direct feedback from Brett Lebo. Oh well, I'll keep looking. I love this DIY stuff! thanks Joseph!
