finally ready to move to the perminant sump... circulation...

returns....

looks very sharp. Did you swap that Bulkhead out with a larger one or stick with the 1 1/4 thru hole? mine was not even 1 1/2 so I drilled the other side and put in a 2" one so I have zero flow restrictions. I have an extra if you need one. one thing that does concern me is if that pump does go down, you will have to drain that sump entirely to replace the pump. you will also have to cut your pipe. I know it is all up and running now, but that may be something you wish to consider. that or you can thread in a piece with a cap to block it off while you cut the pipe. Here is my pump. not quite as large as yours, but very close. as you can see, there is a union and a valve right at the pump. this way, I can take that Dart sitting next to it, and swap it right out without draining the sump.

yeah.. the original bulkhead is in the back... dolphin now makes their ports 1 1/2" so thats what i have in the sump... the bulkhead is threaded on the inside.. so if i have to replace the pump.. i just have to plug the sump from the inside to avoid draining it ...i know what youre saying... i thought alot about that when we did it... i was going to put valved unionson each side of the pump... however decided that i could sacrifice a couple gallons of water left between the main valve and the sump bulkhead... in exchange for a cleaner over-all look... the 5400 impeller assy is identical to the 6200... so i just have to un-screw the unions at the pump when i replace it... so... that'll keep me from having to perform any plumbing surgery

if ya look closely at the close up of the pump... you can see that dolphin has a little different union at the pump... which gives me the flexability between the two pumps

Very Funny

Very Funny

rock and substrate... i went with 300-350lbs of marco rock... the price wasright and i heard great things... and i was certainly satisfied with what i received.. along with 300 lbs of premium sand... i only ended up using 200 lbs...but the bulk price gave me an extra 100 lbs for about 20 bucks... so... why not!

i found this photo frm my home security system... some dude broke in my house and was stealing my rock..

oh wait... thats my good friend Bill... he was actually helping me stack it :)

Very impressed. The quality of the stand is absolutely excellent, very well done. Whenever I figure out what tank I will get next I will put in my order

btw... without being too overboard... ive used dolphin pumps for the past 10 years... ive tried others... but i gotta tell ya... i dont work for them... im not being compensated by them... but... THEIR PUMPS ROCK! (thats just my opinion) :)

Skimmer is a Reeflo Pro 200 with extended neck and upgraded impeller and has the Baldor motor dart for dependable service at around 100 watts or so. Plus it has a auto shutoff waste container for added safety of the juice removed. Old School proven performance by far the best Skimmer i used to own. FYI
Bill
PS, No problem it all in good fun made me think i need to diet a little

Actually, Once you get further into his build you will see that he has half of my 185 with some large colonies already in place, But i just talked to him about you today as Dustin is wanting to get some of your Frags that we already talked about. Figured to mention you to him also as he likes quality SPS and you have just that.
I'll get with you shortly about those frags for Dustin.
Have a great Evening.

Ive saw this build in person. It is sweet. Must say you had good help there Mel. Its hard to beat Bill when it comes to stuff like this he does know what he's doing. As far as the finished product goes its killer and cant imagine what it will look like with a year or two on it. Wish you the best.
