Will get the doors hung tomorrow...

just curious as to why you didn't cut the hole for the tank in the drywall already? seems like it will be tougher to cut it now that the tank is in place......

Cutting the drywall open is a piece of cake...it's only drywall:D It was left in place until I get the doors behind the tank hung and somewhat sealed, then I can fire up the ac-unit for the tank room to minimize the loss of cool air from inside my house to the garage:)

That Krudd Kutter stuff with a fresh blade in my 4" scraper made it a piece of cake! I'm ready to get this plumbed so call me tomorrow.

Congratulations!

Congratulations!

Good job...

I started to ask the same question about the drywall, but then I remembered you were in Arizona!

Now we'll start chanting, "water!" "water!" "water!"

Yeah it was a cool 104 degrees in the garage yesterday!:D

Thanks for all the kind words! I would have never thought I'd been able to pull something like this off this early in the SW hobby but inspiration and ideas from fellow reefers made it all happen.

Today I would like to silicone the sump baffles and get those doors hung and painted, I am also applying molding over the seams of the plywood to disguise them while creating some kinda pattern. I'm going to install garage door seal around the perimeter of the sliding doors and a 2" sweep below the small access door along with weather stripping to keep things nice and sealed up so I can cut out the remaining drywall and frame it all in on the viewing side.

My plan is to create a hidden access panel above the tank on the inside hence the 9" gap between the top of the tank and the opening. This will allow me to access the tank from the inside as well. There will also be a 6" ledge mounted to the wall at the base of the tank where we are going to place some bar stools to accommodate the ultimate viewing experience! I need to find a comfortable set because I imagine we'll be spending lots of time sitting there:D

I didn't really do as much as I planned today...working in the hot garage almost every day for the past couple weeks is starting to catch up to me. So I took it easy today, I installed the knob on the small access door and painted over in a few places that had not gotten a second coat and called it a night. I'm gonna relax tomorrow and take some time to plan out the molding and access from the inside, the doors that close off the tank from the garage will have to wait until Wednesday.

I also met up with Frick who got me a new 1 1/2 bulkhead for my drain since the one on there previously was cross-threaded. I am also waiting on my RO/DI and the track/rollers for my light rail, should have those by the end of the week!:)

Update!

Update!

After taking a break on Tuesday, today I hung the track and installed the doors. Let me tell you it was a PITA to get them aligned properly and lifting them by myself onto the track was no joke. Even though they are very light for their size, they are 5' wide and that made it a little tough but all in all they look great!:D

Ordered all the neoprene door seal today which should be here Friday, I'll have the doors painted and ready to go so i can seal it up. I also need to attach the bottom guide to the floor somehow, I think I'll use liquid nails. I should have my RO/DI on Friday as well according to UPS, so should be able to get alot done considering it's a three day weekend :)

Ok here are the pics!
