It was definitely for the better...I was never cut out to work for the man anyway, I never liked the way the rules were bent and broken never in my favor.
On the other hand the tank is coming along great. It did recently recover from a massive diatom bloom my weekly water changes greatly helped to get rid of it.
I will be adding some more rock tonight to fill in some spaces and to raise it a bit higher, I'll post pics tomorrow after the cloud settles:thumbsup:

In addition to adding more rock last night, tonight I also set up some 46.5" Super Actinics on an IceCap 660 ballast to supplement with. I'll post all the pics I took tomorrow!
On another note the media reactor i received from Spectrapure have been clogging up on a weekly basis. I've determined that the mesh screen is just way too small so I reported back to them and I will be getting new inserts with a coarser mesh to try within a couple weeks. It will be nice not having to tear into the thing every few days, because apart from this issue everything else about it is great!

It appears that after adding more live rock I may have had some a-biotic precipitation hence the low Alkalinity:

Salinity was a bit higher than normal since I did my water change after 3 days with no top-off due to not having fresh DI cartridges so I hadn't made water in almost 2 weeks Both reservoirs were exhausted because I used one to fill the mix container and the other was maintaining top-off on it's own. It was good to know that at 2.5g per day my pump was no where close to running dry and my salinity barely moved
One thing to note was I estimated 300g of r.o water on my Maxcap cartridge which I was hoping for more, though I was informed that there could be an elevated CO2 content in our water and 300g was not bad at all, I wish I knew an easy way to tell for sure.
I am going to raise my alkalinity by 1dkh per day over the next couple days using Brightwell Reefcode B, and I've logged and will continue to log all data on a spreadsheet as I feel that the tank has reached a mature biological state so as I begin to add livestock i will be able to see their influence on waste and element usage.

I will try to get pics up for you within the next day or so, however if it makes any sense to you...I used this seal:
and stapled the flat side (standing vertical) in the pic to the top and bottom edge and sides of both doors where they meet the edge of the walls. The position the doors were hung, first created enough distance to leave sufficient gap for the seal to make good contact with each side wall edge, and each door was made long enough to give sufficient room to seal the top of the doors to the inside of the track they roll on and at the bottom against the concrete floor. I used the height adjustment on the doors to compensate for an error of a 1/4 inch extra on the left door since my garage slopes about a 1/2" per foot the door would only open about half way but right door was dead on!

Well I've got Alk up to 8dkh and Mag to 1320. I quit dosing yesterday and will retest daily to see how long it takes for Alk to drop by -1dkh which will allow me to calculate a small daily dosing value. Fish will be added soon so I'm gonna setup a QT system by next weekend to house these inhabitants for 30 days.

I wouldn't call it perfect as there are some things I would have done a little different, however I must say that it all went according to plans. I hope you do continue to follow and post comments along the way!

I have added a Scopas Tang and a Yashia/Pistol combo the past couple days. I haven't seen much of the goby or the shrimp, however the little Tang is grazing away.:fish1:

Well it appears the Scopas had a case of Flukes and lasted only a week. However everything else is doing ok still. I have since set up two quarantine systems, one for fish the other for coral. I have also removed every single SPS frag that was added to the tank prematurely and placed them in quarantine and I will be performing a prophylactic treatment of interceptor (in QT) to be 100% certain I am bug free going forward. I have been monitoring the Damsel and Goby for any signs or symptoms and even though I have not seen any issues I am tempted to quarantine and treat "just in case" as I have a few specimens on the way. I'll try to post pics within the next day or so.
Sorry to hear about your Scopas. I have dodged the pest bullet (knock on glass) except for a little ich on my blue hippo tang when I first moved her into the new display...
So did you have red bugs on your SPS as well? Did the QT and treatment work for you? Bring us up to date when you have time...
