Update - Test video!

So I was experimenting with my camera shooting in HD and captured some footage. After taking 20 mins at 1.5mb upload speeds to post to Youtube I figured I might as well share. My apologies for the lack of steadiness:)
Shot as the tank was transitioning to full spectrum with just the VHO's and 2 pendants firing...enjoy!

Sorry I keep asking you questions about your damsel... This is one of the most beautiful and would really love to have a school of them (5-9) in my tank soon. Is your damsel easy to feed? Is it agressive? Thanks for answering my previous ?s because I did tons of research and it seemed as if there were differing opinions on wether they schooled or not.

Keep up the good work by the way! You have inspired me!

^^It eats like a pig but is a little...a little territorial to it's home in the far right rock structure where he sleeps at night. Other fish it's size gets a little nudge letting them know the spots claimed. No chasing action here whatsoever.:)

The tangs are the bullies by comparison however very mellow overall. I tried Acanthurus leucosternon and even after spending a week separated from the general population by an eggcrate divider he and the Nigricans played "follow the leader" 80% of the time especially after feedings (and I feed a lot) and it really upset the mood in the tank for a month. A fish trap and an hour later the Powder Blue was removed, they didn't kill each other but man I just couldn't live with it knowing they weren't gonna give it a rest. But I knew the risk and had a plan so I gave it a shot...

There is another round of pics that I need to post. Also there has been a change in the lighting in efforts to reduce energy, bulb replacements and better coloration and so far the results seem to be very positive. More on this later...
I'm also happy to report that in our wicked AZ heat the tank sits at 77.9F (lights off) 78.4 (lights on) with a room temp of ~81F (AC set). Considering the garage has an ambient temp of about 94F I'm very satisfied with these results, since last year I did not use the ac at all as I relied on fans which never kept the water temps below 80F, and created more humidity especially during the monsoon season here.

Extremely well planned build and so many innovative ideas too.
The success of your system is the meticulous thought u have put into building it.
Went through your amazing build thread.
Waiting for your update pics!! :)
Your tank is an inspiration to me to "plan, plan and plan more" for my current tank, which is 3 months old now and I'm documenting it to the best of ability on my thread. Seeing the way you have documented your build is just great and wish I could emulate that. :)

Happy Reefing!!

Thank you very much for reading through it and appreciating the hard work. I must say that one of the advantages of this community is that we can all take away something from each other, improving our own chances of success. So I expect you to be even more successful than myself:)

I really would like to post some updated photos but not until I have the ability to take better pics:)

Otherwise the tank is in growth mode, it has been almost a year since the re-start and I hope to do a 1yr recap next month along with pics. It has been an enjoyable experience more-so the past couple months as the tank has matured to where I touch the glass maybe once a week and I was able to switch to bi-weekly water changes with no ill effects to SPS. The main reason for this change a month ago was that my lobophyllia were beginning to suffer from the lack of nutrients since I don't do any type of target feeding, and so far the results have been positive.

I also took a break from stocking fish but I just started another cycle this week and I need to find a replacement bristletooth since our Yellow Eye developed an intestinal blockage, so trying to decide if I'll replace him with another or a Binotatus, maybe a Tominiensis not sure yet.

What I like is the great space use in the garage. You didn't need an entire room dedicated to your tank, although I'm sure that would be nice. Very nice build.

Long awaited update

Long awaited update

Happy Holidays everyone!
I'm finally able to post the update I've been promising... using the wife's new camera of course:)
Back in July I mentioned a lighting change was made with the goal of achieving better color and reducing energy and bulb costs. I decided to try some large reflectors made by Sunlight Supply, 3 of them, along with Radiums, this allowed me to do away with 250w of MH and 440w of VHO!:spin2:.

The result...Awesome!

Here is a shot of the control board mounted next to the tank:
