Ok I've settled on my new tank.

The 240w-5 60x36x25 which is really a 225g. I bought this custom made tank from Glasscages.com. It will arrive sometime around May 1st. I'll post pics.

Skimmer is this one which I bought from Thereefstop.com

Lighting is a Retro fit kit HO 60" T 5 from Thereefstop.com I don't remember what all it was so I'll have to wait until it arrives.

The pump I bought is this one from again Thereefstop.com

The stand and canopy is a "Lonnie Bettis" stand. We are doing a DIY stand and canopy. Here are some pics of the stand we built last night and painted today.

Oh yea the stand is 42 1/2 inches tall. Just because I hate to bend down to look into a tank. :D It's not done yet and I will take pics along the way and give updates and we progress.

I forgot to mention that Lonnie, the "painter", and 2 of his helpers ( Lonnie's 2 little ones) and myself went to Lowe's on Thursday & bought the lumber and then started on Friday night, we had to lay the Marine grade flooring first which meant cleaning out the room, then once finished we started the stand and finished around 2:30am. We painted the stand today.

Better watch out with that vacume and pics. Fade the maid is union and he'll be picketing outside soon!

hmm.....only one pic of Mike doing work......smart contractor.

That's the same size tank I want, but I want a 20" tall.

Looking good.

Looking good guys! So it looks like Lonnie did all the work while Stupid played photographer. Then what Rich showed up to stick his mug in a couple shots. :D

Keep us updated!

That's the same look he had after polishing off a 36" pizza the night before.

Hahaha

I think it's coming along nicely. I'm going to finish off the stand Just like the ones I have made in the past, hopefully some time this week.

The Canopy we are going to make a little different, than the ones I have made in the past. Since the stand/tank is so tall, and he does not have MH the Canopy doesn't need to be so tall. I'm going to try and make it were 1/2 the canopy (the 3' Side) lifted up, and fold all the way back.

Last night I also put together the Light for the fuge. Using 2 of the 65k, 100 w PC from wal-mart.

Man, those guys are hot. I love to see men working so hard to attain a goal. And, I was kept up all night listening to the saw going on until 2am. And yeah, Lonnie did look like that after the MONSTER pizza. Hey Shag, ask the wacko wife where I can get "Purple Fuzzy Slippers", just like hers?
And yes, the stand is looking awesome. I really like the idea of a bar off of it and some stools. That will be smoking in style for sure, I will bring the beer! And, of course, a Medori Sour for the wacko wife!

So can you make two of everything and send one set down my way? Looks good so far.

-Mike

Mike I can defenitly help you out there :D What brand/type of skimmer are you planning on for your tank?? What type of sump and return pump are you planning on using?? Lights?? I've got questions for you  Either way I'd buy most of what you can from Thereefstop.com You will get 10% off just for being a SLASH member!! And you can annoy Mark like I did and change your order daily :lol2: So far I've invested around $3,400.00 but I don't have the Geo calcium Reactor figured in yet. I ran short on the dough :/ So I'll have to save up for it, but still thats not to bad.

One baby step closer, Sunday we bought more things, We picked up the Oak Skin for the stand and might work on finishing the stand. I will be staining it dark Red. Rich1972 complained that my "Fish Room" was to dark and wouldn't shut up about it, So I took his advise and went to Lowe's and bought some track lighting and Lonnie put it together and up on the wall. Also wired up the light for the sump's fuge. Pics to come in a day or to.

What is "marine grade flooring"?

How many bulbs did you go with on your T5 retros and did you decide on a bulb combination?

How long do you have to let the tank "cure" before you can fill it up?

Do you have any drawings of your plumbing layout?
