250G's Return to SPS

Atlas is the only local builder doing a one piece glass Euro-brace which is one of the reasons I chose them to build my new tank.

not too off topic as I have a new tank on the way........my custom built (250G) Miracles came apart after 7 months, the back panel separated...I am still a little bitter.......as it was fully stocked....we have another local builder who builds tanks also....I would have not purchased another tank unless I found out about Flavio at Atlas.

Dave. Regarding your comment about Atlas/Advanced Reef Aquatics as your only trusted source for premium, custom tank work ... What are your thoughts on Miracles ? One would figure, given your close proximity to them, they would be the go to shop for this type of work, no ?

*Derailing this 5 star thread in the making isnt the intention so please no outside comments on tank builders*

Feel free to shoot me a PM, Dave !

Agreed, a nice feature.

Saw your tank just the other week, it was being built while I was there. Nice tank!

Oh man....I am jealous that you saw it!!!! I am really excited. I have been working Tim and he has been amazing. These guys really know what they are doing. I have a builder 20 minutes from my house but their prices are crazy high. Cant wait to see your tank develop.

Thanks for the info, Dave. Were there any variables which could have caused the seam breakage, such as filling too early after construction ... Considering your close proximity perhaps they rushed/sacrificed silicone cure time for an early delivery ?

Ive been considering them, along with A.G.E, for a future 72x36x24or27 build ... You dont hear many negative first hand comments about them, so your info/experience with a similar sized tank build is invaluable.

agreed, knowledge and a commitment to making it just that much better than the other builders out there.....maybe elements not noticeable to the newer hobbyist but definitely to the more experienced of us out there.

Anytime. My question to "the builder", was the reason my tank failed due to poor design or poor workmanship? At the end of the day, they said it was neither... Their rationale was that was the tank was moved before the silicone cured...............yet remarkably they were busting my b@lls to get the tank out of their shop!!! I received the tank one week "late" according to them!!! I suspect it was an air bubble in a seam of silicone...

I would strongly recommend speaking to an experienced guy about your tank if this is your first serious/high end custom starphire reef tank. Consider speaking to Flavio at Atlas/ Advanced Reef, he will discuss every aspect of your tank imaginable, so you don't feel you missed out on anything after the fact. As you can see above, many people from the US are starting to purchase from them. Just my 2 cents. Let me know if you have any other questions.......can't wait for my new tank...hoping next week or so.

Sorry for the delay in posting....unmotivated as I have not yet gotten the new tank. The new tank in rimless.....

Did u go the one piece euro as well? Saw one the oth day looks very sleek

Overall, I am pleased. Given the limitations of a smaller system, I think the coral color is great and the growth is excellent. I don't have some of the same colors as I had with the halides, but I think I will get there once I have a little extra water volume and increase the intensity of the light a little more. I am NOT displeased I spent SO much on the light.....and I let you know if I was!

Dave:

Can you give an update on how the Vertex Illumina is working out for you with SPS

Thanks

Hang in there Dave. Hopefully they will get you your tank soon. Mine was delivered last week and I was totally blown away by their work and the one piece euro brace on it. I am so happy that I chose them to build my tank and it will be worth the wait.

They must have seen your post of the miracles tank so they are taking an extra few weeks to make sure that silicone is cured real nice

Well, in a way I'm glad that its about waiting for the new tank...I mean you're an SPS legend, and to see you back is great. Just didnt want to lose you before so quickly.
