25g Lagoon upgrade

Have I mentioned I miss my nano?

Anyways, you'll regret ever buying that GSP when it starts to encrust over and strangle out your other corals.

Hehe the GSP stays on the sand bed and I trim it before it can get to my live rock where the sps live. Being on the sand bed makes it really easy to pick up and cut too[emoji847]

You are playing a dangerous game with just putting fish into the tank. Be weary that should you get something in the tank you need to be fishless for 2.5 months...

I wouldn't say 2.5 months. It could be less it could be more. Each tank is different. I always opt to wait for more than 2.5 though.

I usually do something like letting the cycle complete. Snails only for a month. Few weeks of making sure all is constant. Create habits for husbandry. Then wait for the fish I want to appear at lfs and I go all in.

Now for sps and an anemone I'm waiting way longer just to be more careful. They are expensive lol.

Great lagoon btw! I have it and I'm considering getting the custom cady to make life easier. I have to wash my filter socks every 3 days so good thing I have 4. I'm not sure I noticed if you had the screen top or not but I'd get one.

In my lagoon I'm running..

Ocean revive t247 LED
2 jebao pp4
Rowaphos
No skimmer but doing 1-2x week water changes depending on what I did to the tank that week.
Titanium heater at 77.

Post more pics!

I think soulpatch was referring to the fallow period should ich be introduced by not QTing the fish.

Yup. Throwing the fish into the tank without at least a 12 day TTM cycle is asking for serious trouble. Should ich or such get into tank then you would be pulling the fish and leaving the tank fishless for 72+ days...

Yea that makes sense. I thought you were referring to adding stuff all together

I indeed do have the lid:). After I had a wrasse jump I said no more flying fish for me! I also did wait quite a bit before adding the sps. I added shrooms and zoas and lps before my first sps. It made it easier in the long run for stability. I waited to add the nem last and stuck him to the rock I wanted him on left the flow off for about 30 min and let him attach nice and firm. He hasn't moved from that rock since so I got pretty lucky I think.

What do you put your rowaphos into? I have GFO running in a minimax reactor. Been working pretty well so far. My chaeto is growing really well in the fuge basket as well!
Yes the media caddy is a must. I have the filter floss and purigen in it. If you don't want the lower chambers though intank sells a filter floss holder as well! I'm contemplating getting one for the other side of my tank since I don't like messing with the filter socks.

I have the Rowaphos in the panty hose like thing it comes with hanging on the second chamber on the left. Flow goes through it so it's fine. Changing it once a month

your tank looks really nice! The way you have it gives it so much depth and makes it look larger than it is! Love your stocking list also.

Glad you're able to keep alk stable. I'm still struggling to keep up with my alkalinity demands. Hammer and other euphyllia corals tend to grow pretty slowly unless you feed them and have moderate to low flow. I have my euphyllia in my SPS tank, and they grow MUCH slower than my SPS. My SPS are taking over the tank, and my hammer has only split once in the year I've had it, and hasn't grown much, and my torch hasn't really done anything.

I don't mind either, I don't have room for them to grow more. I'm already having to try to sell off major pieces of my acros because they're growing too big and growing into each other.

My hammer went from two heads to six heads in nine months but I had super high nitrates and phosphates and I was feeding them mysis I want running a sump had a hob skimmer, now I have a sump with Chaeto in it we'll see if it grows slower or even faster considering I've been feeding my tank heavy and the nitrates have been holding at 5 ppm for the last three weeks with no water change

Tank looks great! What settings do you have your radion set at? I have the x15w over mine and right now im still just using a basic setting. Do you use a preloaded setting or did you put together your own custom settings? Thanks.

Thanks! I'm running the sps+ab at 70% intensity. Light is at least 16 inches off of surface of water. The setting runs a little bit too blue at first but I actually ended up liking it a lot especially for the zoas :)

Hey Aggie, I live in katy and I will be getting this tank for Christmas. What local store(s) do you visit around here? I would like to pick your brain on some things before I start this adventure to make sure I am starting off in the right direction.

Sure thing! I often go to ocean life or FJW for all my fish needs. Are you gonna try sps on this tank?

Yes I do.

My biggest questions are the setup for the filtration and everything that goes with that. I had a biocube a few years back and spent a small fortune trying to get it correct. Eventually the tank started to leak so I sold off everything.
