26 Galon water circulation

Hi guys. I have a 26 galon tank. I'm going to have soft corals, and two or three fishes (crownfishes or similar). My question is about water circulation: i don't know how much water circulation i should have. I read so many topics for new reefkeepers, about the important things in a reeftank, but i didn't read about water circulation, because i don't find anything!! So i think i should ask.

I want to buy two pumps, each one with 238gph and a skimmer with a 370 gph pump, is it enough? Should i buy another pump, or more powerfull pumps? I can buy a wave generator, but i think thats no good idea because my tank is really small.

Circulation varies depending on the tank setup. A good rule of thumb for a marine tank is to have a minimum of 10x display tank volume circulation. So 260gph would be a minimum in your tank. Soft corals and LPS you'd want something in the 20-30x range. SPS corals you'd want to be as high as 50x.

So with two 238gph powerheads and one 370gph return from a HOB skimmer you'll be around 32x DT volume turnover. That sounds like a good place to start. Try it out and see how your fish and coral respond. They may end up being happier with one of the pumps removed. As far as wave generators go, they're never a bad idea, but may be impractical depending on your budget.
