My interest in the new D&D H2O is based on the near NSW results, specifically K for us Zeoheads... :) but since I can't get it here, guess TM Pro will have to do for now.... :p

isn't the Alk high for ZEO tanks? Marine Depot lists Alk ~9

Yeah, I guess so...a little high, but not as high as Seachem, which also does well for us Zeoheads... that's why i'm waiting for real world testing to see the actual results... :D

hey ed - so was the stray voltage coming off your profilux or your apartment's wiring?

Hi tonyespinoza, it's from my Powerbox which I DYI - total of 16 sockets there and 1 was faulty....changed that and everything working now...No more 'sizzle' :D

PROBES CALIBRATION

PROBES CALIBRATION

22 May, 2008 (Thursday)

Came back from work and used a test pen to see if there is any more leak and so far

Now that it’s been soak in RO water since Sun, last night after work I gave it another try at calibrating my probes again….

Calibrating Redox probe:
GHLRedox220mV.jpg

I calibrated it but not sure if it works as it will take a few weeks before I can see the reading but I think it’s not calibrated correctly as from the instruction there is a step call ‘insert the null plug’ which I did not do â€"œ any experience GHL user out there who know what this means??

I test it against the solution and the reading is not correct. No worries as I’m not using Ozone so this Redox is just an indicator for me…. :D Will re-calibrate once I understand what ‘insert the null plug’ means :p

Calibrating pH Probe 1 for main tank:

Calibrating pH Probe II for Calcium Reactor:
GHLpH40.jpg

Both PH probe calibration was easy and reading accurate when tested with different solution of 4.0, 7.0 and 9.0 respectively. Currently I only activate pH probe 1 for the main tank as the other probe I will wait once I activated my CR this weekend.

My tank pH reading shows 8.14

Calibrating Salinity Probe:

Very close to 50mS solution @ 25 degree C and I think the slight different is due to the temperature difference as my tank is holding at 27.2 degree C.

Temperature probe is already installed last weekend…..

Looks great Ed! I noticed something in your last photo, however. You might want to think about removing the intake plumbing and capping that hole off on your Eheim pump. That fitting can be unscrewed and the pump should have come with a small plastic plate to cover the hole. This will prevent any snails or debris that may have made their way into your sump from clogging and/or jamming the pump's impeller. The circumferential linear holes around the body of the pump's intake are more than sufficient for water intake.

Ed -- How do you like your Profilux? (ease of set up (minus the computer issue you had)etc.....) I was looking at those for my controller option......were you looking at any others? Mine choices are between the Profilux and Neptune Pro.

Again, great build!

Hey Ed nice set up! I am really glad that your tank didn't get damaged by the terrible earthquake..... The earthquake was so strong that we could feel it in Taiwan!

Ed,
I have the profilux and I have a few comments on it. You have to play around with the tunze settings to get a good wave out of them. There is a post in the GHL forum if you need more assistance.

For the tunze streams, they do not need to be plugged into the powerbar, they can be plugged into any outlet. Same thing for the wavebox.

Also, you may want to check and see if those probes and float switch can be submerged, I don't believe that they should be 100% of the time.

I agree with Chrisrush previous comment, I also have a Profilux and I would recommend not connecting the Tunzes or Wavebox to the Profilux powerbars (they only need to be connected to the L-ports). The reason being, is that if for some reason your Profilux goes down then, you have no more flow in your tank (I have experienced this once). If they are connected to an independent outlet, you won't have this problem. Also, give you more free sockets on your Profilux powerbars :)

I have my Tunzes (2 x 6101) setup the following way:

1-10v interface: setup to min 3v to max 8v
current: min 30% to max 100% and 50% downgrade during the night period.

Also, have them setup on the food timer for 210s.

Btw, love your tank ! Don't know who did your plumbing, but he did a heck of a job ! I did my Sch80 plumbing all by myself, and it's no way as clean as yours.

Thanks GreyDC. This is my 1st controller so nothing to compare against. However, when I was doing my research on controllers, it was shortlisted to Profilux, Aquatronics and IKS and I must say Profilux comes out tops as it's an ongoing technology that is always expending and the customer service is 2nd to none... :)

Ed, try shooting Creetin a PM. IIRC, he runs a Profilux and Tunzes. I saw a vid of the wave on his tank
