29g Plumbing questions

I have a 29 gallon tank i want to get ready for use. I plan on drilling holes into the tank. I want to set it up for a Calfo Style Overflow box and a closed loop system with a SCWD wavemaker.

What would be the best way to do this? What size bulkheads would i need to use and what size PVC? Should i use 1 inch or 3/4 inch?

This and This inspired me.

I would do two one inch bulkheads for the drain, and go over the top of the tank with the return line.

Two drains for redundancy, if one becomes blocked the other should take the flow and prevent any flooding.

i had a 29 and a 14 sitting around i drilled the 29 (my first drill)

and built a sump out of the cracked 14 gal tank.

i also built a canopy and hood keep in mind im not done with it compleetly but heres what I did with mine

note_ im not done with any of it yet...the light is being shipped out and it just finished cycling...

almost VEERYthing i used was spare parts pumps lying around the house so i put them to good use :)

I spent more time thinking about this last night. This is what i came up with:

I got to make the calfo all the way across the back to the tank to bring in as much water as possible. I need drill 3 1 inch bulkhead holes for the drainage to the sump. I also need to drill one more hole not sure how big for the closed loop SCWD wavemaker.

I guess i should be doing 1 inch plumbing for the drainage and the closed loop SCWD wavemaker. Will i get enough water flow into the calfo style overflow to support both systems?

I wish I could find the thread for you but I cant remember who posted it. One clever RC member who already had 2 holes drilled a few inches from the top made an overflow that consisted of the internal coast to coast wier that only took up an inch of tank space . He then siliconed a glass box to the back of the tank with the 2 bulkheads and dursos to plumb it to the sump. When I can get to it I'm redoing my 40 to copy this. I made the calfo wide enough to easily fit my hand in it and it takes up way too much space .
