2nd try with a baby Haddoni.

I didn't have much luck with my first one. Did a pretty bad job acclimating it and manhandled it afterwards.. I waited for awhile, got my Nitrate under control, ready for another try.

Today, found a neon green baby Haddoni. Size of a baseball. Then, another darker green Haddoni with white speckles. Both have been established for awhile. They are both looking good. Attaching to the glass and mouth firmly closed.

question. 1 of them is attached, but 1 is not fully attached to anything. How long should I leave the powerheads off to allow them to adapt/attach?

thanks.. I turned 2 WP40s off and kept a MP10 on low mode. flow was very very low in the tank. Kept it for 2 days and the baby still won't attach. Last night I turned 1 WP40 on.

the darker Haddoni began searching for its spot slowly, firmly attaching to the glass.

the neon green Haddoni looks good, mouth closed, same as the last picture. But not attached. I dug the sand deeper near his foot, won't attach. With the MP40 on, he moved closer to the rocks. I'll see if he attach when i'm home from work

From what I read, small Haddoni stay on the rock. You can let him attach to a rock and put the rock 1/2 burried in the sand. He can go to where ever he like

worked out :) little guy attached to the rocks behind. Bigger one started climbing.. there's no powerheads on that side of the tank so I'll let them do their thing

ok another question. The bigger Haddoni is moving up. Now at the water line. Is it looking for more lights? or more flow? He is attaching behind the pump return line.

(powerhead is off, waiting for Gyre to arrive)

I placed him under the rock ledges and it was mostly in shade. Definitely shadier than its current position. You can see the shaded part of the sand.

in its current position, he's slowly swinging back and forth from the waves. more flow than the bottom.

Try move it on the sandbed by the rocks. My 2 haddonis like to attach there foot on the bottom of the glas by the rocks. Maybe they feel safer then in the open.

so you think it's better to move him now than let him move around on its own?

If he is attach to the glass I will move it back to the rock on the sand. Half of the foot by rock and half foot on sand. It will attach the half foot on the rock and slowly moving itself in the sandbed to the bottom glass. This has always work for me.

so ever since i moved the dark green haddoni from the glass, it won't attach. Its mouth is not fully closed. But it stays inflated all day. Doesn't deflate anymore like last week.

Do they move around by letting go of the rock and free float around? or do they move inch by inch? I see its foot inflated all the time, like its trying to move. But i always find it facing upside down in a new location. I then try to manually put its foot by the sand after.

and he ate one of my anthias already... found a pile of bones next to him

I don't think face upside down is a good sign but it may not be a big deal in your case. Also, you didn't lose your Borbonius anthias to the anemone, did you? Cuz that would suck.

I think your haddoni is sick. They can take a lot of light when healthy, but like light flow. If it was mine, I would Qt and treat it with cipro. See the sticky. In my opinion Healthy haddoni do not inflate.

Luckily it wasnt. It was my lyretail. Still sucks. Killed my linkia last week too. It moved on top of the anemone and stopped moving after. Disappeared yesterday.

It was in a previous tank for 2 month before going in mine. I think it was because the acclimation was a little fast. 30min. I acclimated the neon one for an hour and its alot healthier. But its been looking better so im not sure if i should be treating. I have cipro on hand

Did you move it to the rocks on the sand? Let it attach to the rock and let him do the job to move in the sand. Turn down the powerhead so he won't blow away.

They like to bury their foot by the rocks.

phones dead so i cant post pictures.

but yes, i did move him to a rock area, semi shaded, with sand all around. Its foot is right by the rock and sand, but it won't attach. Foot is fully inflated.

the small neon haddoni just took out a cleaner shrimp. size was bigger than the carpet.
