Holy Bubble Tips Reefman!
The day the LED's came online, I had 3 RBTA's. Today I have 5!
One was getting ready to split a few days before The Light came, then split 24 hrs later. Then yesterday, another one split, related to the first split (but not from the first split)
So, in short, the two from the three that split were from the same mother.

All are doing great and are spread out around the main column, the splits though are in the shaded parts while the mothers are basking in the full artificial sun.

This splitting and moving has caused some interesting actions from the three clowns - the two that paired split up, one in one split, the other in the other split from the same mother. The third clown, also the smallest visits the other three RBTA's but is not allowed near the other hosted ones. The previously paired clowns will also not let one another near their split. There is no fighting, just those charge forward and run back attacks.... I continue to keep a close eye on the Three Amigos for any violent change in their relationship.

Will try to get some pics up tomorrow.

Par reading using a Apogee MQ-200 meter curiosity of Reef Culture:

* 6" - 2400 - 2800
* 13" - 1280 - 1530
* 22" - 980 - 1140
* 28" - 520 - 840
* 34" - 430 - 720
* 40" - 270 - 480

These are the variances as the sensor was moved to different spots at that respective level. I also have a turbulent surface that bends the light, so a solid reading would be imposable, especially at the shallow levels with 40 degree optics. All measurements were done from the fixture to the sensor. The fixture is 6" above the water surface. All colors and modules set to 100%.

What do ya think??
:)

I think you'd best turn them down. :P

LEDs don't grow a thing, right?

Right....:fun4:

I turned them back to 70% when I finished - the bubble tips already started moving again, but stopped when I dimmed their sun.

I added two new species of macro frags to the bottom today, will see how they do. Will probably be doing mostly soft corals, maybe some stoney.
Frag mounting in the depths of this tank is a challenge to say the least; I am learning as I go and making new tools to help with these challenges...

FYI: I zip tied the par meter sensor to a wood ruler which held it upright, this worked very good and kept the shadow of my hand from blocking the readings.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but those numbers are 'insane'!
40 deg lenses obviously did the trick..

you'll def. be able to grow whatever you want in there, and I'm looking forward to seeing it grow out..

Thank you!

Yes, amazing numbers! Its more than I hoped for and finally I'm glad I didn't buy Radions!:p

The tank has REALLY come to life since LED's came online - Snails, crabs, shrimp, fish and urchins all active and healthy. The cyno also has completely vanished and my other GSP is starting to open up again.

I have tried in vain to get good pics with my Canon S90 - at high noon it is impossible to get any color to show up correctly or to adjust the white balance correctly. I'll keep working on it, but I think Santa will be getting me an good SLR for Christmas.

This weekends Prop Auction has some nice corals, will be interesting to see what I come home with.

I was just looking at good macro lenses, Bugs, check out the 'photography' forum at RC, there's some amazing shots there. They could probably also help you get shots under LED's.. assuming its possible. Well, I did find an electrical box! A big breaker panel of an old house, ha 15$.

I was looking at a Sony camera which is supposed to have white correction which can handle LEDs so color is correct. Was about $550-$600. Good lens and all. Did not have removable lenses but did have a macro function. Was figuring Christmas would be a good excuse...

Thanks, I will check out the photography forum here before I buy.

Good find on the breaker box, that will work perfect!

Tomorrow, I will be mounting my new corals from last weeks auction, should give this tank some nice color!

Will post pics.

I bought a used Cannon EOS XTI DSLR today, its one of the older Rebels, but it will be a good starter SLR once I learn how to use it...
Got a few pics that were not too bad, all of the coral (Except the last one) I got at last weeks prop auction. One of my RBTA splits started wondering around the same day I put the corals in.... so far no problems:hmm3:

More pics will come as I learn how to use this thing and maybe get a better lens for it.

To get some really sharp pics get a macro lens. Tempe Camera is a good place to deal with
