Hey guys for sale is my Melanurus Wrasse, he is 3"-4" and is very healthy and eats like a beast. He is a great fish but I want to add a leopard wrasse to my 75 and rehome this guy to someone who would want him. I'm located in West Kendall near the turnpike and Kendall drive. $20 and he is ready to go, currently in my sump. Local pickup only, no shipping.

Reef safe? Any aggression towards smaller fish?

He is reef safe "with caution" lol. I have never seen him eat crabs or snails. I dont have any shrimp so I wouldn't know about that. He was living with my 3 chromis, 2 clowns, blue tang, lamark angel, and anthias. no aggression towards them. I added a yellow coris and he chased it, so it is aggressive towards his own kind. i ended up removing the coris wrasse but I am also sure it was because it established his territory in my tank.

They are coral safe. They can pick at inverts (worms, snails, crabs, shrimp, etc). Basically they can decimate a CUC. Mind has not. Another thing worth noting is they sleep in the sand.

Ah good to know thanks for the info. I pmed the OP. I take it I would need a real deep sand bed then? I might need to add more I suppose as mine is about 1 1/2 deep

I have one in each of my tanks. Sand does not have to be too deep. I have about the same as you (1 1/2 inches or so) and its fine. If they get hungry they will eat your clean up crew, other than that no biggie. My buddy has one with a leopard wrasse and they also get along fine.

I had one of these guys in my 160. One of my favorite fish. It was "reef safe" in my tank but it was one of my later additions. I had larger cleaner shrimp and it never messed with them. Think these guys are like most other fish, they will choose the easiest meal. If you keep them well fed they shouldn't mess with things that are "harder" to catch too often.

BEST OF ALL however, was how incredible this thing was at decimating my red flatworm outbreak. Literally ate all of them I think...lol. To the point where when I finally used Flatworm Exit, like 3 flatworms floated up!
