Looking for a starting point for positioning (3) Tunze 6055's in my 125gal mixed reef. I have a 7095 controller. It is a standard 6' tank.

What would work best in everyones opinion??

Thanks in advance!!

I had 2 6100's and hated how big they were and how much room they took up. I really like the shape/size of the 6055's. I am also flowing aprox. 1000gph from my returns so I think 3 X 6055's should be sufficient in addition to this flow.

Question is, where do I place them?

If you go with the 6055s I would spread them out a bit. One on each side and 1 or 2 on the back glass. They only really push water about 4 feet total. While they move a good deal of water the nano part of the name does hold true to a point even on a 6055

In my partially SPS reef 90g which I setup before the 6105s were available I run 4x6055s (2 on 2 off every 20 seconds), plus a 6025 and about 400-500 from my sump and admit if I was not breaking down soon I would be upgrading to more flow yet.

Here is all 3 side by side

Thanks for the info and picture! I may have to get a couple of those 6105's I guess. They are much better than the old boxy 6100's.

Us in comparision to the older style they look even smaller once both are mounted since the 05s are tight to the glass like the nanos

I agree that for a tank this size the 6105's are better, you could use the 6055's but they may not have enough oomph for SPS. If you go with the 6055's I would position them along the back wall about 18" apart aimed parallel to each other to hit the front glass about 3ft away.

Hi
Sorry 4 Barging in......
Will one 6105 + 2 6055 will do the job on a 125g sps tank?
BTW i just got the new 7096 to run them.....cool Gadget!!!

I am in L O V E

@ THEmarineman - I have the same set up - I run the 6055s synced together on one side and the 6105 on the other in opposite pulse. A 1.0 sec on/off with an aquasurf is getting me roughly a 1" wave

So cool!
1" wave.....

BTW

I have brand new 6105
I run it in pulls mode, but when its starts in gives a knock sound.
It didn’t do it on the first two weeks only today.
Are you familiar with that?

Thanks……

Yes, there are two possible causes, either the disk, part 6065.792 has slid forward, or you need to add a second disk. It should rest against the silicon bushing. It is a sort of shim that lines the magnet up with the magnetic field and a pump must have one and may require 2. If the disk is missing or out of position, the force of the coil pulls the magnet down and causes a click.

Take the prop assembly out, check for the disk, make sure it is down against the silicon bushing, if it still clicks, send me a PM and we will send a second one.
