Hi Barry, I'll take one of those free gold ones, I PM'd you my shipping address. Just kidding... :)

What's your website URL?

Thanks,
Larry

i am getting a gold maxima for 14 dollars tomorrow:)

and if i was willing to drop a grand on anything, it would be for a bigger aquarium

As Barry said it is supply and demand, but in the case of the Blue Squamosa there is NO supply, while the Color TD and gold TD are found in thousands in Solomons and Vietnam.

The Indonesian dude who have them is not getting Cites to export them and since he also happen to be one of the biggest coral exporters in the world (wild and cultured) it doesnt really bother him.

The minute he will get a cites the price will drop, but if the situation will stay the same---no chance!

There are Blue Squamies in other places as well, I have some pics taken in Malaysia, but the Bali guy was the only one who saw the potential in captive breeding those.

The fine people in ORA have their own Blue Squamosas which are not nearly as nice, however the main problem is that only recently they "discovered" their Blue Squamosa, hopefully now, with some selective breeding they would be able to market their Blue Squamies but it'll take time.

quick question, do blue squammies grow as fast as their brown counterparts? cuz if they don't then the heck with it lol, a BIG blue clam would be the only attraction for me.

ok , if they grow fast then they're worth more than a big blue max in my book. you'll never see a 14" blue max ;-)

WHEW!, glad to see the clam guys aren't quite as gullible as the LPS people lol. whenever you see prices double in a week like that you can be absolutely certain that the wholesale price hasn't changed a penny. As reefkeepers we have a responsibility not to commercialize living creatures, yes blue squamies are rare but they aren't DIAMONDS folks :-P

Diamonds aren't rare, Debears has a nearly complete monopoly on them and as a result they only sell X% of diamonds mined and can drive the prices up, the most valuable of the precious stones is acctually the ruby.

Whoever paid that amount of money for the three clams should donate something to the local museum or the public aquarium to compensate the community's lost of a beautiful creature.
