Can I ask how many years did you grow the PM and OT to that size?

Continue on the two inlands topic, suppose one really like to have lot of coral (break less is more rule) and want to let his coral grow big, like yours. Do you think fancy rockwork is needed at all? Since you can not see it anyway, why not save some effort and just lay out some minimum rockwork (each rock = an island for a coral, low rock on front, high rock on back) that way you get better flow and relatively easy to move individual colony around.

Thanks Ryan. I have been growing OTs for about 3 years and the PM for around 2 1/2 years. As for rockwork, I do believe less is better....leave room for those corals to grow if you are going to be in it for the long haul.

Do you miss the slimer? It was such an impressive piece. So Leggy and bright.

Is the birdsnest stinging any nearby corals? Does it have a strong sting? Im asking because mine is located too close to a stag and I was wondering who would win the battle? Thanks

Congrats Keith.....An amazing tank.

I hate to do it to folks, but I have had the pleasure of seeing this tank in person several times and it is simply a thing of beauty. I think of greater importance is how wonderful of a person Keith is. He knowledge of reefkeeping is obviously off the charts. However, as you can see by all his threads on RC over the years he is a soooo willing to share his expertise on reefkeeping. It is a true testament of this hobby and it keeps all of us striving to reach his level.

I am proud to say I have several of his corals in my tank, but haven't reach the level of growth or corals. Waiting for a lighting upgrade and some luck, lol. Anyhow Keith.....keep up the good work and I know I speak for others, you are a TREAT for all of us on RC.

I must confess, that when designing my new 180-gl build I used a lot of Keith designs and setup from his '09 TOTM thread...as they say if you can't beat them join them. And I am happy to report that after 9-weeks now things have been going well.

Thanks! The frag tank is doing great! I couldn't get rid of some algae for the first 6 months but now it is humming along. I don't have any wide shots but here are some pics of my frags.

And here are a couple of shots of the equipment room...

As for the Slimer, I do miss the colony but it definitely opened up space for a bunch of other acros. And I also have plenty of frags left :lol2:

The Birdsnest is not stinging other corals. In fact, it is supporting a couple of large colonies that have gotten too big to support their own weight :lmao:

Thanks. I got it from Greenwich Aquaria in CT. It is acrylic and is 36"L X 24"W X 12"T with 2" euro-bracing. Same MH light I have over the main tank...a 400W Radium on a Sunlight Supply Blue Wave 7 HQI ballast.

Wow Keith its been a while since I have seen any activity from you and thought I would pop in your thread to check out your tank. Looking absolutely amazing!! Can't believe those PM colonies! So nice to see when people lay off the fragging and let those things grow. Inspires me to find me a frag to start my own colony.

This thing is just so amazing, i want something like this one day. Ivee been thinking about doing a frag tank once my little guys start growing! I might have to swing by and check out your setup one of these days. What kind of blue stag is that on your right side? Ever interested in selling some frags?
