30 gallon cube

hey all

Kinda expecting to get flamed with this one but..

It looks like I'm about to "inherit" a 30 gallon cube.
What do you guys think the chances are of maintaining an rbta and a pair of osc. clowns in a tank that small? The tank would be dedicated to just them, and would be seeded and cycled from lr/ls from an existing tank..

Any one think its a possbility? I know the rbta could eventually fill the tank by itself, but i would be happy to move/trade were that to happen..

flame on

it will be fine, most likely the bta will split before it gets too big. make sure you let the tank mature before placing a anemone of any kind in it.

Yea it'll be fine. 30 gallon is the minimum recommended size for BTAs but it is in the range so go for it. I would use a sump and put in some cheato + skimmer but otherwise target feeding the fish and weekly water changes would do it even with out the sump. As long as you add the anemone then wait a month before adding the fish or vice versa the system will adapt and should be fine.

That is like solana size, it would be perfect, to have them and mabe some zoos, would look great

I would say a 30 gallon is plenty big for a BTA and a pair of ocellaris. Karen of Karens Roses website (an often referenced RBTA website) says 20 gallons or larger is fine. I think it depends on one's maintenance schedule and ability to keep the water parameters in check. Protein skimming, activated carbon and/or resins such as Purigen or Chemipure, and regular water changes are key to keeping the water quality in good shape.

Go for it. I have a 34 gallon Solana with a RBTA, pair or perculas, some shrooms, and zoas. Nothing which needed lots of light. I liked it a lot, and so did the kids.

 Not a problem at all. I have a 30g cube with a RBTA and a misbar perc. The RBTA has split, and I just traded the clone in for some store credit.
