300 acrylic with bar

The big ones did, some of the smaller ones are still there but with water in it, you shouldn't see them

Yeah that's what I was gonna say. You will be the only one that ever notices that they are still there.

Looks great. I also purchased a used scratched up acrylic tank. It looks great now after buffing.

Where did you get the eyeball return jet?

Looks awesome, congrats! :thumbsup:

Mccliffy and Untamed have some spectacular tanks... great inspirations! I was able to stop by Mccliffy's when I was in Chicago not too long ago and I was blown away... I wanna reef bar too :D

Thanks! It is flattering that someone would say that my tank inspired them.

...but you do need to show a better picture than that one! Who wants to look at my legs in the tank? Here you go.

Thanks Untamed, that is indeed a very nice picture. If anyone is interested, here is his build link;

Backinthegame, I would say a good 25-30 hours. I did a lot of the heavy scratch removal while it was in the garage. With it sitting on it's front, you miss a lot of the smaller scratches. Once it was moved in to the house and placed on the stand, I had to get in the tank and work on it that way. Laying on your side trying to control a Makita polisher is indeed a work out. There were several days that I was real sore from working on it.

Looks great, murf! Don't forget to let us know when you have the christening, I'd love to see it. Amazing job with the clean up. Looks brand new. Your hard work really paid off.

Some day I'll have my own reef bar... sigh.

Murfman,

Which Makita did you use? Is it a fixed or variable RPM? I have been polishing my 300g for hours using a buffer (~5500 rpm) and drill/buffing pad (~7500 RPM) but I cannot get all of the scratches out. I, too, started with sandpaper (800 grit) and went all the way to 12000 grit (micromesh) then have tried multiple polishing compounds (the micromesh white compoud, Aquabuff 2000 and Novus 3 & 2) but I still have some scratches that will not smooth over.

Thanks!!
