Pardon me for asking if it has been said before, what material did you make the outside structure of? Is it cinder block? It is a very nice concept, and one more people should look into. this is actually the plan I have for the future, but I will have to make it diferently given my skimmer is much taller. Nice set up though.

The walls were 7inches thick with rigid insulation that was 4inches thick with a R26 value. The walls were pour out of concrete, that left a 1inch and a half left over for each side of the wall. Toward the top I left about 3inches thick just because I knew I would be hoping in and out so I was worried about breaking a edge. I then stucco it to match the house. I would only go at the most 36inches in height, I think it would get to be a pain in the butt hoping in and out if it got any higher. I think the only thing I would do different is put the weatherstripping on the wall instead of the top. When you open up the top it has a tendency to tear the edge of the top. I found some weatherstipping that sits in a metal channel. So I will atach the channel to the wall and then slide the weaterstipping in the groove of the channel. Hope this anwser your ? take care Steve
