Wow, great looking Sohal!
I must say, I REALLY like the look of the sand in your tank. It really adds to it!
That skimmer looks great.. Only 99w! The PCX-70 on my beckett takes 300w. I'll have to take a look at those skimmers next time I'm at SWC.

Nice addition.. Great to see you updating your thread, over all how is the tank doing ? any issues to report ?

Tank is doing good I added a sulfur de-nitrator unit to the tank waiting for it to cycle want to have 0 nitrate in the tank.

After waiting over a year for this fish the time has come! Last year I was contacted if I was interested in taking a rather large Sohal Tang off the hands of a fellow hobbyist. I went over to his house I was shocked to see the size of this monster 15+" colors vivid and he was housed in a 90g. The guy wanted him out of the tank cause he was busting bulbs on his setup and had outgrowing his tank. To make a long story short we had no luck in getting him with 2 nets to much rock and corals in his tank. We gave up on the catch. Last night I got a call from a friend asking if I still wanted him I said sure! He transported him last night to my house and I landed him into the tank. He is by far the largest fish in the tank now! My French is a close second but still not the size of this monster! No aggression issues with him. Updated pics and videos of my tank with sand and the new fish to come.

We use a very small fly hook with the barb ground off and some line to pull them out, much faster and less stress.

I have upgraded my skimmer once again! This bad boy is 16" diameter with quad pumps. I have installed a new sump and equipment since my last update. I will post pics of my sump and equipment and tank in a few days.

Here are a few shots of it running with vinegar and freshwater only.

HD, I'de love to see some more pics of performance after its broken in. Geez for the price its very hard to beat.

Looks sweet!

The pictures can't even begin to do justice to the beastliness of that skimmer!

BTW Rob, I've got your previous three pump skimmer up and running now. Man are these recirculating skimmers stable -- the water level hasn't budged since I set it...

Only thing I need to do is put a wye on one of the pump intakes and hook my ozone up to that. When the air pump in the ozone generator is off the pump the ozone generator is hooked up to doesn't get much air.

It's been skimming not too bad so far. It skims that much better without the ozone hooked up.

I'll have to fix that tonight.

are you guys doing any of the mods to get more air out of the octopus skimmers? it might be worth it for you to do a couple of them. Like smooth the volute out and the 90 elbow can be thined out some. also reem out the venturi. just little things.

Yes I have done those mods on both skimmers. Tgunn bought my old triple skimmer.

Tgunn,

I have a fix for your ozone connection. Go see jayson @ the store he will show you what i used to fix the problem.

ok just thought i would make sure you knew the option was out there :) you can really get alot out of these for the price!
