whats the name of the coral in the last picture of post#51?

Also what is the reasoning of going BB? Nutrient control? How much do you think a tank benefits from going BB over DSB?

Beautiful tank BTW great dimensions.

Its a SPS deepwater, doesnt really have a name, but is developing a nice red base with blue tips and green polyps.
Im doing bb for nutrient control, its amazing the amount of detritus that collects at the end of a week! I think if you can keep up with the detritus removal you can keep on top of any nitrate issues. So far my nitrates are not being detected by my salifert test kit. Of course i have over 400g of total water volume too.

I did a search on acrylic sheets and they're not that expensive so I'm thinking of building a sump. What did you use to cut your acrylic? Did you use weld on and if you did which number? Is it really as simple as lining up the sheets and applying weld on? Tia

in the DIY section, there is an thread just for acrylic help.
i would suggest going through it. it tells you all you need to know.
floyd will probably answer your questions though.

you cut with a table saw using a high tooth blade. then you can use a straight edge and router to finish the edge before you weld it.
weldon works but its better to mix your own solvent because there is less crap in it.
hope that gets you started though.
