3166 pump options and ???

Herbie

Yep,that one
Roger.........or someone with a 3166,

I am doing away with the sump/setup on my 37 gallon oceanic. I already have a 9010 skimmer, and I am going to set-up a 3166 filter alongside the 9010 for internal in-tank use. What pump is recommended for the 3166.........is it the 1600/2 ??? I would like to try to use the same "motor, pump" as my 9010 so they would be the same, so would that be a 1200/2 pump? And would a 1200/2 work in a 3166?? Or would I be better off using a 1600/2 ???

What exactly is included with a 3166 ?? Besides the pump.......what else do I have to order? Does it come with all the filter cartridges needed? I plan on ordering magnetic holders as well.

Also I may need to run a 9005 cup on my 9010.........is the 9005 cup available ??? I am sure it will work.........It may just skim a little wetter and I may need to dial back the air a bit.

Thanks for any advise........
Later.........Herbie

You want the 1600/2. This pump is the same wattage motor as is used in the 9005, so it is smaller. The 3000/2 is the same wattage as the 9010 pump but this is way to much pump for that filter and will generate a lot of air bubbles. It comes with the filter bell and a mechanical filter cart, the baskets for bulk floss and carbon are not included. I do not have a 9005.14 cup on hand at the moment but I can certainly get one in. I am not sure how this will work, I expect the skimmate would be wet and tuning would be difficult.

Thanks for the quick answer Roger!
I am not sure which way to go yet.......... either get the 3166 and put it next to my 9010 OR..........I am thinking of getting the ReefPack 500 instead and using the osmolater that comes with the 500.
Thanks.........Herbie

OH-yea...........Roger..........Did you want that spare 9010 body back that you sent me ??? Just let me know.

It would be nice to get the body back in case I need one for someone in an emergency. The Reefpack may be a better deal, you could put the 9010 pump in it with the bigger cup to boost the performance though the 9005 should be plenty.
