336 A.G.E. Peninsula Tank

You should try to milk a discounted sump from the moronic comments. It would be fun to build one, the question is do you trust your skills to build a good one? There is alot of experientation and failure when building your own sump.

stdreb27 you are a smart man. Its easier to ask for forgiveness then it is to ask for permission.
Oh it got better, that was my summer school money so I ended up staying in school another symester, and she was at her sisters wedding. So she was already in full girl mode. It was nuts.

I think we trust the skills, it is the time.... I wouldn't want them building my sump... they would try and tell you how they want to build it for you, not the way you want it built... at least that is my theory on it.....

You're probably right. From personal experience, I've flooded my room more than once tinkering with my sump.

Haha, I have flooded 3x because of stupid crap like that. This is why I now have sealed concrete floors. :)

No, it wasn't my ro, well ok once it was. Once for some reason, the rain and shine didn't bond or I didn't put it on, the joint popped open with pressure and I pumped my entire sump onto my floor. And another time the glass just broke in my sump and water seeped out over the course of the day while I was at school. What a mess.
I will say, I will never try that again without buying the right tools for the job.

oh no, he has an issue with the off valve on the RO unit.... many a days/nights wet vac'ing the neighbors apt... at least she was nice....

Yeah Yeah Yeah James. One of those was just as much your fault as it was mine.

If I remember correctly the second time was the skimmer overflowing not the RO. I learned my lesson the first time, If I remember correct you flooded your house on a few occasions with your RO. :)

never to the point I had to take it out in buckets... hahaha... but Im pretty sure that is a pre-requisite for being on RC!

anyway cant wait to see the tank... Im keeping the calendar open... as of now !

OMG,I'm getting the same tank.how much does a metal stand go for this tank, mine is the same exact dimensions. and where are you getting it from

Time for an update, They started manufacturing the tank today which is great. I purchased the tank through AquaDaves in College Station, who is dealing directly with AGE. Should be done in 4 to 6 weeks.

I ended up going with the external overflow which will be great for space in the tank and I have 2.75in overflow thickness so the tank can support two Tunze wave boxes. I also am relocating the water storage tank to be outside of the stand and will eventually go underneath the overflow tank.

Hopefully we are welding the stand up next weekend so we can get it over to be Rhino Lined next week.

Oh I forgot about the skimmer overflowing. Finally I put a drain hose on the collection cup and had a 3 liter bottle that the cup drained into, and I put that back in the sump. Because I was tired of it overflowing.

Djay,
I am having AGE build the steel frame for the stand for me, it was the only way that they would warranty the tank. ~$800 for the stand.

I had Jame's friend lined up to weld the tank which would have been cheaper but not by loads. We were going to build a two part stand so that we could get it through the door, didn't work out so I had to reduce the tank size :(

I am ordering my skimmer and chiller today, the skimmer is a ATI bubble master 250 and the chiller is a Trade Wind 1/2 hp inline.

stdreb- never again, that skimmer is definitely going in sump, your just asking for problems when that sucker is out of the sump.

Yeah, but when it is outside the sump, it looks like you have something serious. :D Besides, I had a problem with heat, and no chiller, so I had to have an external pump.

James is right, the pumps are going to contribute very little heat to the tank. Its the halides that give me the problems. Hence the 1/2 hp trade wind chiller.

I run a fowlr, so I have t-5's. Don't have to worry about heat there. I've actually had pumps add 5 degrees to my tank temp. (it was defective)
But for the most part they don't add too much heat. Personally I'm more creeped out by the fact I have an electrical pump submerged in saltwater.

Yeah, ADG has a seio pump short out a lil while ago, A ton of coral started bleaching so they ran every test they could, the last one the got to was copper. Turns out that the pump over heated and melted the housing exposing the coper coil that still had a bit of current running through it, it was black with corosion when the finally broke it out. The lost a really nice table acro, its sad.
